That part always sketched me out. I was always careful to only touch the trailing edge of the "hook" when seating it against the fairlead. Condolences to that member's dick beaters.

Not to push the topic, but it was very satisfying to just loop the rope on the fairlead, and sinch it tight from 6 feet away.

yikes! What’s the story there? Was it it caused by the ultrahook or something pinch-point related that another link device could have caused?

I don't remember exact details, but my only first hand experience with it, nothing worked right. Shackle didn't fit, was just an overall pain in the ass compared to my basic bitch hook. I like simple, they're far from it

Yep, there are plenty of cheaper options.

Astra Depot Hawse Fairlead Hook Stand 10" Bolt Mount Steel for Epic Clevis Winch Hook 3/8" 1/2" Recovery Winch Mounting System, 2pcs Black https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09BC9M45Y

It's not for everyone... but I'd challendge you to make the same product for less.

My dad owns a full fab shop, and I've been witness to machining and fab work most of my life. I promise you, fabricating that part out of aluminum on a small scale, ain't cheap.

Just go find one of the aerospace machine shops waiting for that Boeing check to come back finally, nbd. You are correct, small scale costs a lot more, but $300 for a fairlead is just silly

15A5DEBE-243B-4E4A-A91B-4DDCC0C648D5.jpg I’m using the $20 Master Pull puck. My Factor 55 soft shackle is my favorite go to because it’s a pretty small diameter.

Interested! I have a hidden winch mount I plan to install soon and have been eyeing these exact products for a while. I’m in Portland for the next couple of weeks. Know anyone coming down from Seattle who could transport?
