Looking to get a new head unit for my 23 Tacoma, non JBL. Which install kit is preferred? Will I be ok with the cheap one? Does the more expensive kit have stuff I won't use?

I will eventually add an amp and DSP, just curious what is the best value here. Would rather not pay for stuffs that I won't use.

You definitely want the more expensive one. Comes with the maestro RR module that retains a lot of functionality from the factory radio, and gives you a few extra things as well. Gauges, tire pressure, some cool stuff like that. Mostly keeping the factory settings like changing the lock settings, light duration, some stuff like that. Dig through your factory radio settings and you’ll see all the options you lose without that module

Not the same gen but I got the maestro interface from crutchfield and it's pretty handy, I programmed in secondary functions into the steering wheel controls and the built in OBD integrated into the kenwood is nice. If I were to replace the system now I'd go with a Joying System though but I don't have Entune integration concerns a late model owner does.

Is that included in any of the kits listed above? I think I would just need a harness from the head unit to the truck, the install mounting kit, and the steering wheel controls.

head unit I am looking to get is the sony xav-ax8100. looking to flush mount per this thread https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...ith-custom-flush-mount-in-2019-tacoma.657843/

I looked and it doesn’t look like there is a ready harness for that only a Kenwood. But it will come with everything to get you up and running. Definitely get the kit to the left it’s more expensive but it has the newest module that you can program to keep all your steering wheel controls.
