I'm interested in allocating/ordering a 2022 Super White TRD Off-Road access cab. Only issue is I live in South Carolina and for whatever reason the access cab isn't an option on the build and price tool. It is an option in Tennessee and several other states that are close by. I've reached out to my local dealers and to those in states where access cabs are an option. So far they've been less than helpful. Has anyone else experienced this problem? How did you get the truck you wanted or did you settle for something else? Seems like the dealer mindset for MY22 is settle and take what you can get.

Don’t settle for what they want to sell you, get the truck that makes you happy even if you have to travel out of state to get it. Good luck.

Unfortunately the supply is so limited you'll have to make a dealer work hard to get one in.

    Which means deposit.

I could never do that, I would settle long before I put a deposit on a vehicle.

I live in Columbia, the only dealer sort of close that was remotely helpful in getting a TRD AC was Fred Anderson Toyota in Asheville.

I've had one for about a year. Theres not a lot of TRD Off Road Access Cabs around period - so if getting one before the shortage was difficult I can't imagine now. I bought a CPO simply because I couldn't get a new one. I've only ever seen 7 others driving around, yeah I count them - and I'm all over the southeast for work.

How long did it take to come in once you ordered it? Bryan Easler in Hendersonville has been the only dealer to take the time to help me out. They can allocate one but it would take up to six months. I'm trying to decide whether to pull the trigger and place the deposit. Most of the other dealers that responded said Toyota isn't accepting orders/allocations right now. So I'm not sure who to believe right now.

I wouldn't mind knowing about his ordering process. Seems like it's different for everyone these days.

It says he bought it used because he gave up on trying to get a new one.

    You're right I missed that.

Did any of the dealers try to get one for you or not try at all?

That is exactly what I got, and I found out what you're finding out: 4x4 + Access Cab is HARD to find (even here in SoCal). Eventually, the dealer just ordered the truck for me, and yes I had to wait a couple months for the truck to show up. But it ultimately showed up and I'm happy. Stay with it.

I believe New Mexico and the Atlantic region like Virginia and Maryland get the most access cabs. I was looking for one for a while but I ultimately found my forever truck and a true unicorn after searching for 2 years. I love the look of the trd off-road access cabs so I turned my 2017 2.7L 5 speed MT 4x4 into one.

Southeast Toyota runs FL, GA, AL, NC, SC. They are a completely separate entity from Toyota North America. As of a week or so ago, there were no ACs in Southeast's inventory. I'm near Atlanta trying to get an AC Sport. Right now I'm going through Chattanooga to try to get what I want. Good Luck.

Bizarre. I used my zip code (Arizona) and it was available. Tried again with a metro-Atlanta zip code and it wasn't available.
I then tried with a 2021 model and the Access Cab in Metro Atlanta and it was available.

    What gives... totally bizarro.

Different regions get different allocations of different types of trucks. That’s why some people do a ‘fly n drive’ in order to get the truck/configuration that they want.

Southeast is a pain, just purchased a 2021. The same options and accessories are double the prices in the southeast compared to central Atlantic or Cincinnati districts. Southeast is probably prioritizing double cabs over access cabs.

I walked into a large dealer and asked in person if they had an allocation for the truck I was looking for. I lucked out or they gambled and said they had one in 60 days. Put in a deposit and waited. In the meantime, in case it fell through or for faster delivery I called around to different dealers on allocation days and asked if they had what I was looking for. I also texted the salespeople after I was in their system. I did get good responses and came up with trucks close to what I was looking for that the dealer had on allocation but the delivery was all the same so I stuck to the deal I already had in place. Calls and texts worked much better than email. no response to email.

You can try these links but by the time they show up on Toyota southeast, most are presold.

No joke! It was crazy seeing the differences using the different zip codes on the build and price tool. I've found those methods work better too over the last few days. Thanks for posting those links. If this process doesn't work out I'll see what I can find using them.

My local dealer in Easley is also saying they'll be able to allocate a TRD access cab. They are requiring less options to order and they have less dealer fees so I'm leaning towards doing business with them. Interestingly they are saying 100 days after deposit while Bryan Easler was saying six months. Kinda makes me wonder if they're just making their best guess.

I went with my local dealer and put my deposit down today. TRD Off-Road, Super White, Access Cab, 4x4, AT, only options are floor liners and the basic tech package. $38,788 out the door with no mark up. Dealer is estimating 100 days for delivery. I'm thinking it will take longer but we'll see when it actually comes!
