Orange Peel Paint?

I have ordered a 2020 TUNDRA and it will be delivered in a few days. I have not seen the new truck.

While at the dealer I roamed around and observed a new Tacoma with paint that had Orange Peel.

Now, I am concerned. Is Orange Peel the new standard for Toyota Trucks?

It's normal on lower part of the doors and rocker panels.

If the paint is defective refuse to take ownership. A bad paint job doesn't get better with time.

The anti-chip coating at the bottom is not Orange peel.

 

My complaint..Paint quality is sub-par and my hood corner looks like crap/chipped 2020 with 2200 arterial miles.

Yes, I understand that the lower panels are coated to prevent rock chips. However, the orange peel observed was on the upper body of the truck. Not my first rodeo. My first Toyota truck was a Hilux that only came with a choice of two colors.............Mac

 

I see orange peel on a lot of new vehicles. Somebody should fire those robots.

 

Most of the solid color ones I looked had orange peel especially white. These new cars have shitty paint IMHO.

I’m not 100% about this particular issue but i’ve noticed that a lot of ‘orange peel’ on new paint (from reputable shops) tends to flow out and look smoother after a few days in the hot sun or heat...........

 

What the heck is an arterial mile?

 

Wondering the same thing.

 

The tips on the corners of my hood on my cement taco were both chipped off Front left and right. Had it touched up. Toyota was like meh, it’s fine.

 

ha! My bad, I meant to refer to side streets (arterial roads) like how some people will say freeway miles. I rarely travel/commute on the freeways.

 

all manufactures seem to have both real flat and paint jobs then right next to it one all orange peeled up. just luck of the draw it seems... if you get a orange peeled one either deny delivery (no one is forcing you to take delivery of it) or send it to a good detail shop that will wet sand it and buff it out. don't trust those clowns at the dealer touch it. doubt they will care about normal orange peel anyway.
