    Hey Y'all,

I bought a red top Optima battery for my truck back in November. When I put the battery in, I noticed my bracket was just about rusted through. I strapped the battery in with a rubber bungee cord and ordered a new bracket. Once the new bracket (OEM) came, I realized that it won't work with the battery. The battery sits to low and it covers up the hole where the role goes through to hold it down in the back.

What can I do to fix this situation?

When you bought the battery, there should have been a plastic spacer that came with your battery. This spacer increases the height of the battery so you can use your factory tie down.

Yup all you need is the spacer for under the battery and will perfect perfectly

The spacer clips to the bottom of the battery and adds about an inch or so to the height

I used a couple pieces of wood under mine to space it up. Been like that for close to 3 years with no issues.

Glad I found this post, just bought an Optima and thought I was going crazy since it wouldn't fit properly.

Found out my Optima did not fit with out a bit of manipulation as mentioned. Luckily it came with some parts I was able to use to make it work.

The base seen underneath was needed in order to raise the battery enough to get it level with the Tacoma mounting bar, thanks Optima.

A keen eye and/or fellow Optima owner may have noticed the other modification above needed in order to be able to clamp the smaller Optima battery into the factory mount. I used the other existing part (flat squarish piece) and trimmed out the center sections to fit it under the oem clamps to fill the gap and grab the battery tightly.

The arrows point to the additional "spacers" I needed to make to hold this thing down tight.

Came out super sturdy, but a bit of a hassle and head scratching was needed so I hope this helps someone else down the road!
