I want to replace my battery, it's old and going out.

I want to go with an Optima battery. Should I go with a red top or a yellow top.

I have LED light bar in the front bumper and a CB Radio. other then that I dont have much else using power.

I do like to have my Radio on when im out working on my truck.

    none of the above

the #1 battery that gives us problems are the Optima batteries.

if you want AGM get Interstate
if you want LA get Interstate or DieHard or Toyota OEM

batteries are a crap shoot no matter where you get them

Johnson controls makes optima agm not the best maker

die hard is made by Delphi which is very good

    exide is also good

    interstate is good

I've got the yellow tops in my diesel and good so far. The original owner installed them in 04/2006. Still kicking but as others have said maybe times have changed for this mfg? I've heard good things about odyssey also- agm

My dad has the Two of the yellow tops in his Dodge for years with no problems.

I also want to get a cool looking holder for it.

Optima was bought out a while back. The old stuff was awesome, today is a crap shoot. They shipped production out of the US and good jobs with it. They did the typical gut quality control to maximize profits deal. I recommend an AGM battery made by diehard or interstate if you're concerned about vibrations.

I've heard that Optima used to be the best but something like 5 or 6 years ago they were bought out like mentioned above ^^^^ and they aren't what they used to be.

I have an Optima red top that came with my truck, switching it out with probably just a Toyota OEM battery is on my to-do list.

Optima is a Crapola. I have a redtop that I use for a door stop in my shop. Excellent for that purpose. It died just after the warranty. I will never buy another Optima battery. JMO

You can get a good or bad one (any brand). So just get yourself a good warranty. There is a Walmart on every corner across the country. Easiest place in the world to swap something out should you have issues.

Both are Stock - built correct from the start.
Diehard or Interstate. Optima used to be the "one" til a few years ago, but they sold out.

I have had 2 red top batteries for my truck in the last 10 years,
First One lasted 7 years the other is on year 3 with No issues,
I love my battery, SEALED so never any acid or corrosion on the battery cables on the battery tray area.
Yellow top I think will give you a longer life with more ignition starts then the red top,I have a yellow top in my Tahoe that is 5 years old, zero problems.
The only battery I would buy. Doesn't matter how cold it is in winter even at
    Minus -15 degrees works perfectly

Had 3 red tops on different vehicles. Never a prob. Had my current one for 4 years. The plus is they are smaller and lighter. You get much more room in the engine bay. Don't know why everyone hates on them.
