Debating this is driving me crazy. im putting in new speakers in my new truck and cant decide. Currently looking at Infinity Kappa 6.5 components, these use to be regarded as high end back in the day now seems like all the talk is Focal, JL , Hertz, Morel. I just cant imagine paying $500 for a set of speakers. Infinitys seem like a good value at half the price assuming they are still high quality.

    How old are you?

As we age, we lose higher frequency perception. I know I don't hear the "richness" if music as I did 20 years ago.

If you are over 40, there is a good chance you will be spending money on something you can't appreciate to it's full potential.

    Good luck with your decision.

Thanks I was looking at that exact setup with the additional 2” midrange .

Still Curious why many do not like Infinty

I’m not going to drop 5k on a audio system .

already have a JL Audio 5 channel amp that was a good deal.

    I’m 45.
Not sure if I want to spend the money on Focal and Morel.

so funny you say that. i had a nice set of 6x9 Infinity Kappas from a previous install and i held onto them, no reason to toss them.

by the time i did my Tacoma install, i had decided against 6x9's altogether, and I had already gotten a set of Focals for the front and they sounded perfect for my install plan. but i decided to hook up those Kappas before buttoning everything back up just to see if maybe i should consider them for rear fill.

man they sounded like trash compared to the new stuff. thin, weak, unclear. it's all relative but I've been spoiled. so if you want to save money run far away from the good stuff and don't tempt yourself. don't even compare them side by side. ;)

It’s all subjective but I agree with above poster. Infinity’s are a solid brand. The infinity perfect series on the JL audio 5 channel you have will sound fantastic as long as you don’t listen to the higher end of the focal morel illusion etc. I made the mistake of doing that and now I’m around $5k into an audio system. I do think infinity is a very solid manufacturer though
