Question for those who may have experience in buying a use vehicle from a dealer that was used as a rental. Found a few good ones with a good price range. Specifically a 2018 for 28.5k with 33k miles Trd Offroad 4x4 at a Toyota dealership. Skeptical about how well it was treated since it was a rental truck. It's in Dallas so I cant really inspect it until I go up there this weekend. I'm considering trading in my trd sport for an offroad 4x4 is why i ask. I have read my pros and cons and look at the carfax (clean; even though its only useful if its reported). Just trying to make a decision to pursue or keep looking?

    TIA

Unless you're getting a better than salvage price don't even consider buying a rental truck.

I get to rent many vehicles due to work/training. I can tell you that I would not buy any of those vehicles.

We bought a rental once... It was a Nissan Sentra with 20k miles and that thing did not last more than 60k miles. That should say plenty considering a Sentra should last 3 times that at least with proper maintenance.

Bought a rental G35 once. Had some rear bumber damage that was joe shmoh repaired but not the worst and a small tear in the seat I could have someone fix. After trading it in after 2 years ownership, dealer told me it had frame damage. Been driving around in something that could have killed me. No accidents reported on the record either. Moral of the story, stay away from rentals.

Rentals are fun. It's almost a given, that if you're in a rental you beat on em.

After all the rental cars and trucks I’ve abused, I’d never buy a rental anything.

They gave me a 2018 Tacoma as a rental if I recall it had 300 miles on it and I drove it like I stole it!

Rentals are like whores. You don't know how many times its been around the block, used and abused.

I'll feel bad for whoever buys the Dodge Charger Hellcat that the rental place rented me for 2 weeks last summer. Smoked the tires before I even left the rental lot (that one was an accident).
