Opinions?! gutted catalytic converter with flowmaster 40?

    K&R cold air intake. Flow master 40 series.
    So I gutted my Toyota tacomas cat. It's a 3.4L. I also have a flowmaster 40 on it. In my honest opinion it sounds good. What can happen in the long run?

    I remember when i had a fm40 and gutted cat. Anything above 3000rpm sounded like the tin mans asshole.

    But really though. Not the best setup for the 3.4. I was much happier with it after adding a small 12" resonator in place of the cat that made it much deeper. Oh and youl get a cel for the cat but for me clearing it makes it go away for a few months at a time.

    bwahahah tin man's asshole. I'm gonna remember that saying. Do a high flow cat and the 40 series. That sounds like ....... I'm sure someone can come up with a good one :)

    I dont remember if the older 3.4 has a down stream 02 sensor if it does it will set a cat efficiency code and it will set after 2 drive cycles

    You can get the urd O2 SIM. I may have one for sell soon, as long as my cel doesn't come back with new sensor that I finally got in.

    Edit: and I agree, a resonator will help a ton.

    I replaced both my converters with a single metallic high flow converter from Eastern Performance Catalytic.
    The metallic converters have less flow restriction and no ceramic to break when off-roading.
    I have custom 2.5" stainless exhaust and a Magnaflow 18" muffler and it sounds great.
    No issues with CEL since the metallic converter is more efficient than the OEM converters.
