Looked up alignment on the web and on TW and cant rally find what I'm looking for, so last resort I'll ask hear.
    Background:

2014 tacoma acess cab v6 4.0l six speed
265 65 16 wheels and very good snow tires no odd wear and pressures all adjusted to 32psi
new lower control arms with new cam adjusters
new spc upper control arms set at 0 caster, also triede +2 also tried -2
toe is adjusted to 0 tried adjustment of 1/2 in and 1/2 out

    Problem:
when you hit any bumps in the road the steering wheel moves a little
you can let go of the steering wheel and it goes no where just moves as you hit bumps
dose not pull left or right and returns just fine.

    Question:
is there any alignment tech's or knowledgeable persons out there that can tell me why this is?
not asking for a cure just want to know why the steering wheel is moving when I hit a bump

My wifes corolla can go over any pot hole and that steering wheel will not deviate from center. was just wondering why?

    Thanks in advance

Not stock, no. Toyota sells a locking one P/N C0170-00020, but it's just a repackaged Stant P/N 10504. It's slightly wider than the stock cap, so the tether no longer fits.

I can only speak for myself. With 4 inch lift and 33's my steering wheel does that. It's nothing crazy just a slight tug. I think it's normal with larger tires and changes to suspension. In your case, not sure.

Phenomenon is simply called bump steer. It's usually minimized at vehicle design stage by altering steering rack location so the tie rods and control arms converge to a single point:

On our trucks, this geometric relationship is worsened when the truck is lifted. If you lifted the Corolla 3", it may behave similarly. On Mustangs, they sell spacer kits to correct bump steer for lowered cars. AFAIK no one offers a similar kit for Tacomas, because people don't buy these trucks for handling prowess. You'd also be limited to heim joint tie rods, which will need replacement every 2-3 years in our climate.

    I would target. ..
    0 Camber
    +.02 Toe
At least 1.5deg Caster but more is better, 2 deg to 3 deg seems to be "the spot" that a lot of people like, reduces bump steer when you have positive caster.
Since most roads crown to the left in North America 0 to .5deg more caster on driver side.
But if you are above 2 deg caster keeping them even is fine.

Since you have SPC uppers, find a level surface, and you can do all your alignment with a fishing line and a digital level:

As far as I know, those Michelin jack stands were made in a different Chinese labor camp and not under recall :anonymous:

Donut made a sweet video on alignmnets a few weeks back. Explains a lot of it in laymans terms but also have a DIY guide for it with the same fishing line method

The dihedral LCA angles are painful to watch. Roll center is probably below the ground on that Miata. :bananadead:
