Like them a bunch. Really happy with tires. 4 wheel parts had a special, no tax/no shipping/50.00 gift card and their price was like 210.00 each..

The wheels were about 185 each.

Then I went to discount to mount/balance and get the certs that was like 180.00

I know it's been a while since you test fit this, but do you remember by chance how close you were to the UCA?

    Hey Patrick,

Yes still going BP-51s just needed to slow down the mods a bit, the PO department at my house was getting a bit stingy....

Hoping to get them done sometime this winter/spring.....

Not even close at all.. 255/85/16 or the BFG KO2 285/75/16s (11.3" wide) have tons of room between the OEM UCAs...but I bought SPC UCAs and when I do my lift I will add them. I think if you go with a wider 285/75/16 you might have UCA rubbing.. You know some are 11.7" or even 12.3" wide.

I also do think it mater how wide your wheel is. The TRDs I am using are 7.5" wide so fairly narrow but that also helps push the tire into a taller profile.. Which with the BFGs being a 32.8, maybe that gives them just a bit more in height??

I am wanting to stay with the stock TRD OR wheels on my '17 and put 255/85r16's on them. Just wanting to make sure they clear the UCA's. Thanks for the info.

You should be fine with the OEM wheels. I am not sure if they are 7.5s or 8s but either way you would have plenty of clearance with a 255.

    Chris,

yes the PO department doesn't always agree with what the PO should be for---I hear that.

Well here's a picture of the front. The reservoir is hiding behind that black dirt guard? (apron? not sure what to call that thing) someone has pointed out I should pull it out for heat and I agree---I'm going to move it back to the outside.

I love the tall skinny look and putting on some spacers to see if I can get a little bit of my man card back on these skinny tires ;). People at work are calling them girlie tires, Bicycle tires, etc. They just don't understand my Pizza cutter/ military ways ;)

I'm looking for best snow and mpg so that's my reasoning. Thinking of going summer set TRD wheels like yours and considering 33"s ---I was going to go Cooper Maxx but some of the info here has me re-thinking them vs the KO2's.

    235 stance from the rear
    [IMG]

These are 32" tires with the full Dakar pack as it comes with BP-51 kit, no AAL or overllads added. My shell is about 160lbs.
Sorry I can't tell you want the gain in inches was but about 2-2.5 Is my guess.
The front CO's are set to 10mm as recommended by OME since I have no bumpers

Here it is right after install not even driven yet. Sitting a little higher than it looks now further below.

When I checked it after a few miles it had exactly 1" rake :)

Here with the RTT on it's a little less than 1" rake and I'm sure there is settling going on too.

really like the look of 255/85/16 just wish they had more tire choices out there. Seems like all are mud terrains not all terrains. I daily drive my truck with trail use about 5-8 times a year in the northeast. I need a tire geared towards snow, rain, some mud, and rocks. Plus I dont want to destroy mpg's. Probably gotta stick to 265/75/16:(

Long Long time ago, BFG made the AT KO in a 255/85R16, but drop the size when the KO2 came out. I am leaning towards the Cooper ST Maxx, OR even Dick Cepek Extreme Country.

But I check this site when trying to find what tires come in what sizes:

285/75 are too wide and heavy for my uses. I had 265/75 Duratracs on my 2nd gen and they worked great. Really like the new Falken Wildpeaks AT3w but no 255/85. sucks.

@Indiehawk did you end up going with either 33's?

Great choice in the Maxxis Big Horn. Very limited tire selection imho at the 285 size.

Aren't you worried about your pos truck leaving stranded with that type of off road activity?

My problem isn't performance off road. It's the other 90% of utility which is ON road where the driving performance is subpar. Gutless, slushbox tranny, clunking/howling rear diff, road noise etc.

I went with 32's This post title talks of the 255 85 16's I'm running 235 80 17 on TRD Pro's (it's a cool wheel nobody has ;) ) Added 0.75 in spacers to improve stance a little but the TRD PRO's already helped some too.

I notice the power and shifting thing now people talk about but I suspect its worse for wider and taller 33's. ECT button def makes a difference.

Happy with my skinny 32's for winter (COOPER M & S) ---working great and super quiet. and I'm torn between same size (235's) on 17's or move up to the 255 85 16's for my summer tire (Cooper ST MAXX), I probably don't need too but going from FJ to Long bed Taco is an adjustment I haven't tested on the trails yet.. Looking forward to mild wheeling with the TACO and getting a sense for when the rear wheels will finally hit..........

Tire search has been frustrating.....NOBODY makes a 255/85/16 in a dura trac or KO2 type tire. You have to step up to a MT tire in load range E to get that size:confused::mad:
