So I just bought my tacoma about a month ago And im very new to the truck suspension world and Im really set on getting Bilstein 5100s set to 0 on all 4s, with OME 887s to give me the full 3 inch lift. I will also add the 1/4 spacer for driver side lean. I want to hopefully fit 18" wheels with 33'' Tires under as well. I understand that I will need new UCAs to get into alignment as well. for the rear im hoping to do a 2-2 1/2 AAL or leaf pack.

Am I missing anything for set up?
How much trimming will I have to do to get 33" tires under there or will i even have to trim at all?
Do I have to get offset rims?
How hard will this be to install myself?
How is the ride compared to stock?
How many inches of lift will I need in the rear to level the truck out?

Sorry for all of the questions but Basically Im asking people who have a lot of knowledge on this set up or who have it personally, to input on this set up on their experiences for installing this. If you have suggestions or can answer some of these questions your opinion and knowledge will be much appreciated! im sure it can help others out as well! If you have time please share!

This is the setup I just bought but haven't installed yet. I bought a 1.5" AAL for the rear, which is supposed to make it set close to level with the 4-leaf rear leaf pack. If you have a 3-leaf rear leaf pack you may need to run a 2" AAL.

I'm going to run 285/70/17 tires on 17x9 rims with -12 offset. I likely will have to do some trimming, cab mount chop, etc.

The install isint to bad if you no what you are doing. There is some good DIYs on this fourm on how to install. If you aren't mechanically inclined I wouldn't recommend it though.

Okay thank you for your comment! Ya I have the 3 leaf pack so I'll probably go with 2". Yes I will be doing the install myself because I have worked on a couple of car suspensions myself but this will be my first for a truck. Have you ever thought about just adding a 1/2 inch spacer on the passenger side and 1/4 spacer on the driver side? Maybe this will make it so you don't have to chop and a little more lift. I've thought about doing this myself.

If you do not wish to do the Cab Mount Chop you can do 33's in a 255 width instead of 285. Just an FYI :)

I'm gonna run a 1/4" on the drivers side to compensate for lean. I know some people run top plates with 885 coils but with the 887 it may be to much lift making CV angles a bit steep.

Also you may need carrier bearing drop, rear shims, and a sway bar relocation bracket.

    If you want 33's on 18" rims you'd want this: 255/75R18 = 33.1X10.04R18

Just keep in mind that the bigger your rims the shorter your sidewall. For off-road purposes a tall sidewall means more cushion. For cruising town and looking dope it probably won't matter.

    For example:
    255/75/18 = 7.53" sidewall
    255/80/17 = 8.03" sidewall
    255/85/16 = 8.53" sidewall

I just bought all 4 blistein shocks and 885s with the aal add a leaf. the kit comes with the 1/4" plate for the driver side only I'm waiting for headstrong off road to ship them can't wait to install them. But I'm wondering how much would a shop charge to install the kit a shop gave me an estimate of $350-$400 I think he's nuts!

I have 887's on my truck right now. On Tuesday I'm having them replaced with 886's. I was quoted $300 labor for swap and $75 for alignment. I've called three different shops in town. So the quote you got is right on.

No problem! And don't skip the alignment either! It's a big deal.

Makes sense. Thank you I don't offroad often but I like the option to be able to without any problems. I do mostly highway miles and just the occasion trails when I go camping.

Why are you replacing the 887 with a 886? too much weight on the 887's?

When I bought my truck I got a Long Bed intentionally. Said I wasn't planning to off-road.

Here we are and my truck is 1 year old. I've got steel plate skids, bumpers, OME lift, a 10k lbs winch, and 33" Cooper ST Maxx tires about to be installed on Tuesday. Don't sell yourself short. LOL

I've been out snow wheeling twice with a group in another city. It's a blast. And I'm working on meeting up with a local Toyota club that does 4x4 adventures. :)

I put the 887's on wanting the 3" lift height. I didn't plan to off-road and such at the time. I loved how it rode.

Last weekend I installed a 120lb @Pelfreybilt plate bumper and a winch. Plus I've already installed RCI steel skids under the truck. So the 887's have settled. Admittedly it rides REALLY smooth up front with the weight on it. But I'm hoping the 886's will lift me up higher.

885/887's have a 590lb spring rate. The 886's have a 660lb spring rate. Hoping to get my lift height back without using spacers.

Side View of 887's before bumper/skids.

    Post skids, winch, bumpers.

Really hard to see it in photos. And I can't find my original height measurements from the 887 install.

Ok I was wondering maybe you would sell me your 877's but I'm going the bumper and winch route myself. Thanks for the info!
