Ive been having a private conversation with @marbet1 fur the last couple days. I cant find much info on this older style canister and she bought a truck that tje PO had all the lines completely messed up!!

At this point we have confused eachother on what we're talking about and she cant seem to upload any pics of the mess she has.

Will someone with an older taco that has the round canister (not the square plastic one most of us have) please post a few pics of where the lines go to and from this dang canister?? Since i have the newer style charcoal canister im only so much help to her. She needs help!!

67867-P0001143.jpg here is a generic pic i pulled off google of the type of canister she has. I didnt put the circle and arrow in the pic it was just the one i found happened to have it on there fyi...

I know its not that complicated! There are only 3 ports on the canister, 2 up top and one off the bottom. Then attached to the canister is a sensor with two ports, i know the top port of this sensor goes to the TB while the bottom port goes to one of the top ports of the canister itself with just a short piece of hose. Other than trying to explain that to her i dont know about the remaining ports on the canister! Thats where one of you guys with that setup are much needed! So really i guess she only needs to know where the bottom hose goes and the larger top hose?? I assume the larger top hose goes to the fuel tank?

Do you see and understand where the two sensor hoses go marbet??

larger top hose goes to the tank and bottom air cleaner. I think. could be the other way around.

Here is the page from the 96 FSM. It shows both the 2rz and 3rz canisters. The 2rz used the small round one while the 3rz used the big box.

Pretty sure you're right on the top going to the fuel tank! And i thought maybe the bottom was to the intake tube. I know our later model ones have that intake tube connection that runns across the radiator but wasnt sure if the older ones did that or not.

Oh so it was only the lil 2rz's that used that style canister hu? Okay, good to know!

You gettin this info @marbet1 ??

So we had actually found that diagram a couple.days ago and it helped me to let her know about most of the connections but it dosent show the bottom hose connection. Marbet thought it was just a drain line which i doubt while mechanicjon thought it to be the intake tube connection...as i had also figured it to be after placing all the other lines to their respected homes. Anyone have a confirmation on this one last unconfirmed port??

At least for the 96 year. I have a 99 3rz and it has the large box.

I believe the bottom hose is just a vent

Okay well she thought it just to be a drain/vent too! She could be right then...

So no air intake tube connection on those unlike our newer canisters ya reckon?

That's what it looks like to me according to the diagram. You only have 2 hose connections on top, one to the VSV for Evap (that sensor) and one from the fuel tank. It doesn't show the bottom hose going to anything. On mine (the big box) the vent hose goes down into the frame, but I believe it doesn't connect to anything.

That would make sense actually beings it dosent show or mention anything in regards to that bottom port!

Im sure she'll be along here before too long but she is having a handful of trouble codes, im hoping most if not all will go away after these connections are made! She also has a shitty CAI under the hood that has given her a bit of a hassle. She started thread about it a few days ago, the aftermarket intake didnt have a spot for a sensor (forget what it was, its not on our 3rz's and im guessing any newer models of taco or atleast as a stand alone unit, they're prolly part of the MAF after her design im assuming) so she found out there had to be a hole drilled in the intake tube for it. So along with that and nothing basically hooked to the charcoal canister you can imagine shes prolly got a myriad of codes poppin!

Heres her thread i was just referring to if anyone's interested or if it becomes useful later on with the issues shes having....
    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/rough-idol-after-throttle-body-cleaning.470053/

Shes obviously capable of starting her own thread but after i posted a couple times in the linked thread she PM'd me to ask a few more in depth questions but i finally felt, especially since ive never dealt with the same evap system she has, that it would be much more beneficial to start a new thread where we all could potentially offer up good helpful info! Thus me starting this one for her this smornin! Anyways, rambling now like i always do! I'll let her come in and ask anything else she wants to or needs to know about....
