Looking into getting this Old Man Emu 2" lift kit from ARB (Part #OMETAC16MKSB) which is labeled "Medium load".

Kit link: This is my first ever truck, and first time getting into lifts, so please bear with me.

I use the car daily with 0 load, but the plan is to be towing my drift car in the winter. Car doesn't have any heavy accessories such as bumper, battery, etc, but i might go for a bar/skid style bumper in the future.

Any advice/recommendations for a newbie like me?

I drove a truck with this left after we installed it at our shop and thought it was terrible with no load on it. The rear springs seemed much stiffer than I would want to tolerate on a daily basis. At the time my truck had Bilstein 5100's and an Icon 3 leaf aal and I thought it rode much better.

Love my OME 2" kit. Installed 265/75-16's and it rides like I feel it should from the factory. Handles great overall and no issue towing my 18' boat

I'm unsure of your goals. The OME medium kit is not designed (AFAIK) to help with towing and load carrying, but you'll probably be just fine. If you just interested in the aesthetics of an increased ride height, you can probably get by cheaper.

Some decent information about spring rates here:

I put the same lift on my truck, 2886 coils, 90000 nitro shocks, EL095R Leafs ,I haul a light duty trailer with Lawn care equipment daily with an estimated load of 1500 lbs which is tounge weight ,also pull a 17 foot center console boat when i play and the lift and upgrade is far superior over stock. You do feel the minor bumps in the road a little more evident but it feels much more stable and and handles like it a real truck instead of a mushy type ride. I would pull the trigger ASAP and you will not regret your decision for the money. The install is not bad at all if you have some mechanical skills.

I have the heavy load rear springs and firms shocks up front with the 886 springs. Driver side lean spacer with the 1/2 spacers. Truck rides much stiffer than the stock TRD stuff. Over 100k on this lift no problems. Ohh.. the leafs make a F'n racket

Thanks for the replies guys. I see a lot of mixed opinions whether they're good or "terrible". I guess it's personal preference in this case.
I'm unloaded almost all the time so I'm worried I'd be sacrificing the comfort part. I'll have to think about it a little more before pulling the trigger.

I do not think you need to worry much about losing ride comfort with that kit. The coil springs are actually softer than stock (590lb/in vs 700ib/in) and the leafs are meant to be about as stiff as stock with added arch to give more ride height. I have the same leafs on my truck and 600lb/in (king) coil springs. With the stock tires it road very much like stock when daily driving and slightly better when towing.

Just bought a '17 Sport with what I presume is a 2" OME lift...ride is outstanding. Stance is perfect. Tows my 19' Walleye boat easily. I ran one on one of my old Jeep XJ's years ago, and it was also a very nice quality lift...better ride characteristics than stock if you ever use it for anything more than asphalt.
