ok, so curious to know if there'd be any issue driving a short distance with one CV axle. Side without CV axle will have the tulip stub shaft in the diff to prevent oil spitting out and hub will have the outer stub shaft keeping the bearing together. Simply wondering if it'd be hard on the differential on any way. it's an open diff so I'm thinking it'd be fine, anyone know any different? Thx in advance! IMG_20180607_133622.jpg

    ...too much shit to list.
Na. As long as you have both stubs in (diff side and hub side) you can drive around for months. 4wd will be useless but won’t hurt anything around town.

Hey so I have the stub in the diff side, but not in the hub side, how safe is it to drive around like that? Will it mess up the wheel bearing?

Nothing in the hub is not good. Just counting on friction at that point

    The point of attachment for
Your wheel is pressed into the bearing and that’s is. Perhaps you can drive to the end of your driveway or perhaps you get up to speed on mainstreet before it let’s go and you send you wheel through an innocent bystanders windshield.

None. The outer stub shaft and axle nut hold that assembly together.

Ok thanks I’ll try cutting the axle and bolting the stub back in, in the meantime

I ordered an oem cv axle and with this covid and supply issues Toyota cant get me a cv axle (my dealer) so in the meantime i have ripped boots on the cv axle on purpose. Rather wait to find an oem than buy auto zone.

Don't have to buy them, just take the ones with ripped boots back in to where you bought them, all parts store axles have a lifetime warranty and they'll swap them out no questions asked, in my experience. Better than driving around with busted CV boots anyway, till the OEM one arrives
