Finally found the source of a minor leak I've been chasing. My oil level never drops significantly between changes, but I noticed the skid plate and the area immediately above were always gunked up after 5,000 miles.

The attached photo shows where the leak is coming from. May be hard to tell because I had just wiped it to confirm that it was coming from there. Looks like where the oil filter housing meets the engine block. Previous owner had the oil filter housing replaced, supposedly it had cracked. What are the chances that they: 1. didn't replace the two gaskets inside, or 2. didn't torque it up enough?

Any advice on taking care of this is appreciated. From videos I've seen, seems like it's not that difficult of a job, but it is kinda tough to get to it.

Easy fix, at least on a 2.7l. Couple of o rings and you will be fine.

Sweet, I hope so. I just spent the last few days busting my ass changing out steering rack bushings and UBJs.

Those oil cooler seals leak all the time on lots of different cars. Don't overthink it

Can someone confirm whether I need an o-ring and gasket or just the gasket? When I check partsouq it says I need both, but the dealer’s website says I need just the gasket. Put my VIN in both.

As far as consumables go, I would snag them both without overthinking it.

Nice and easy here, this is what I bought for my 2.7. Way easier if you pop the passenger tire off takes longer to jack the truck up then to replace the gaskets. Get yourself a small pick for the o-ring.

Thanks brother, ended up ordering both from the dealer since I’m passing it on the way home from work today anyway. Wanted it in hand asap so I can get it done over the weekend.
