Greetings, as I was installing a new oil filter, I had to reset the spring assembly. Before I go any further I want to make sure I installed the spring on the correct side of the corresponding bottom base the spring fits into. I tried to find a diagram but unable to locate.

Welcome. First off, it sure would help to include a picture of what you have done here. Having said that, it really only works one way; the base of the spring assembly slides underneath the receiving slots at the bottom of the housing. Not sure, but I would think it would be pretty hard to fuck this up.

PS: you really should not even be removing that spring assembly when doing an oil change. Leave it be!

Thanks, Buck. The spring assembly came out when I removed the filter. I got it back in ok. My only concern is the seat the spring fits into at the bottom. It's a two-sided and circular gizmo and the bottom of the spring fitds onto it
I think I got it right but i want to be sure

With the new filter element in the housing, push down a few times. If you feel the filter element popping back up the spring should be in the slots correctly. I would then remove the element to inspect the spring.

If the spring is still in the slots you should be good to go to put the element back in.
