Hey all - just got my Offroam phone mount kit:

    https://getoffroam.com/products/toyota-tundra-tacoma-phone-mount

I have the AJT design vent rings (black) and having issues with the bracket catching on the inside of the vent to secure I think because the rings have a studded feature. I see the Meso vent rings aren’t as studded like AJT plus black is sold out. Was wondering if anyone else came across the same issue with either the AJT vent rings or the Meso ones with this vent mount or the Hondo garage vent mount???

    Thanks in advance!

I know I can go back to the OEM chrome vent rings but not what I’m looking to do.

    Hey OP,

I have the same phone mount kit. I remembered reading in the vehicle compatibility section on their website that it won’t fit with after market vent rings.

Edit: directly from their website: “The clamp is designed for stock air vents. It is not compatible with 3rd party air vent modifications, such as Meso Customs black-out trim.”

So to your question, I don’t believe it will work.

Hmm weird. I have the off-roam mount on the standard chrome rings and it works great. I did have to tighten it more than I originally thought. First try or two was too loose and it wouldn’t stay for me. Hasn’t come off in months now.

let me know if you get it to work or not, I was thinking about getting black meso rings soon.

Unfortunately, I can verify it won't work with the Meso rings.
Had the mount and loved it but eventually picked up the Meso rings without realizing the incompatibility.
Ended up going with the DSM posted above and am just as happy.

Yeah - might be putting the Offroam mount up in the for sale shortly…it’s ashame because it’s built super solid and I like the options of multiple mounting locations. Also realized I can’t go back to just one oem vent ring and painting it black as the rings literally get broken and busted upon removal the first time. BUMMER

Is the DSM mount arm plastic or metal like the Offroam one? And the the phone holder…what is that made out of??

was thinking I could sell the Offroam vent mount and use the arm/holder but not sure the “balls” (haha) are the same size…

I had originally purchased a kit from Tackfrom that had the Offroam clip:
    https://www.tackform.com/products/tundra-phone-mount-tacoma-phone-mount

The metal ball size on this kit (the Offroam clamp and both opening ends of the extension arm) was 20mm. The DSM had a 1"/25mm hard plastic ball. So I became kind of stuck again, mostly due to yet again not looking far enough into compatibility. The Tackform phone mount was solid and I wanted to keep using it, so I ended up finding an arm adapter from Tackform that was a 1"/25mm Socket to 20mm socket.
    https://www.tackform.com/products/4...ket-enduro-series?_pos=1&_sid=7d06c775f&_ss=r

This allowed me to keep the phone mount portion I originally purchased and use it with the new arm and DSM.

Ended up being much more expensive than I would have liked, but I have a very solid mount that fits exactly where I wanted it....just with an extra Offroam clamp and adjustable arm that I'll likely pass on to a friend.

Pic of the DSM, 25mm → 20mm arm and Tackform phone holder (and if you zoom in, the scars from attempting to attach the Offroam mount to the Meso ring)

Great info - ended up buying the dual ball size arm from Tackform and the DSM from taco garage…hopefully no more speed bumps

Take whatever ring you have and remove it to see if your device will fit without any ring at all. If it does fit then take your old chrome ring, you still have it don't you, and soak it for two weeks in extra strong bleach to remove the chrome and paint to your desires.

Hindsight is 20/20 - chrome delete was one of my first mods when I got the taco and I remember being pretty handsy removing those chrome rings. I did actually look for them today in my garage of factory takeoffs and couldn’t find them which leads my to believe they were in bad shape after removal and didn’t hang onto them.

I'll bet somebody has them left over and will offer them up but check to see if you can operate your device without a ring at all. I ran my vehicle without rings for quite some time and when I finished painting mine, they just shoved in from the front without taking the dash apart again. With your phone covering the vent you might not even notice.

These are OEM black vents (some trims have them).
