Hey guys, I'm planning a camping trip with my wife in Arkansas over Thanksgiving of this year. We are going to stay at a state park on the way to the Buffalo River area (near Ponca, Harrison). I tried some searching on my own but can only find a couple of ORV parks that are more extreme than I want to put my truck through, or that it could manage (4x2 V6 SR5). Does anybody know of anywhere in Arkansas where you can drive some moderate trails and see some nice scenery, and ideally camp? Thank you in advance

I’m hitting the Hot Springs ORV Park tomorrow for the first time so I’ll report back. After looking at the map for a bit today, there are a ton of 1 and 2 rated trails (on their scale through 5), so don’t just look at it as “extreme.” I’ve got a 2018 as well that I’m not down to chew up quite yet, and the woman I spoke with seemed to think it wouldn’t be an issue as long as I realized my limitations and stayed smart. I’ll post again after my trip and let you know how it goes

Also, I realize that’s not near Ponca. But you asked about off road trails in AR, so I had to throw it in. The north part of the state is beautiful. Look out for the Elk around the Buffalo. The herd is doing quite well

Thanks man, definitely let me know! I saw that place and it looked cool, but I didn't inquire like you did. I'm heading to the Buffallo River from the south (Louisiana) so I think I could easily pass through hot springs. Do you know if there's camping?

To the best of my knowledge, they allow both tent and rv camping. HS is like 2 hours from me and I just got my lift and tires, so I figured I had to push the truck just a little bit

I live about 15 miles from the LA border in El Dorado, and it’s been about the same here.

The trails were a blast! There are plenty of options if you don’t want to beat your truck up. I stayed on 1s and 2s (which they say are for stock trucks), and I rode for about 4 hours without finishing all of them. The people on the office are super nice and they’ll map you out a route to take. I think I only had to switch to 4 low about 5 times, and there were really only two hairy places.

The one thing that took a beating was my predator steps, but I was planning on ripping them off anyway. If you have some, I’d suggest removing them before going.

That looks like fun man! I'd hate to have to pull my steps, was it larger rocks that you hit yours on?

I believe so, but there really wasn’t anything crazy on these trails. From the way the steps bent, it looks like all impact occurred when I had the wheel cocked one way or the other and likely came down on something.
