Will the factory tow hook that mounts to the right frame rail bolt on to an SR?

The front 2 factory hooks are for "towing it" on/off a car carrier, not on-road recovery. Factory hooks connect to weaker part of the edge of the frame, not the solid frame. This one mounts to the stronger part of the frame, and "breaks away" in a front impact to separate from the frame and not twist it unsafely:https://www.4wheelparts.com/p/arb-recovery-point-2823010/_/R-BHWQ-2823010

I'll take a look at that. Thank you. I knew about that regarding the hook welded to the end of the left frame rail. I thought the off-road models had a different hook that bolts on to the end of the right frame rail?

Level, non-bumpy, easy towing, maybe. The ARB mounts to frame-proper instead of the part of the frame the body panels use.

Yes the OR and Pro have a beefier hook that bolts on. The ARB recovery point bolts to the same location but also to some additional locations to get to a 17k rating. The ARB recovery point is likely overkill for most people, but it is the only rated recovery point that I am aware of.

Someone once posted a reply from a ARB rep that explained that the ARB summit bumper recovery points were good enough for winching but not for momentum based recoveries where they considered 17k to be the safe point, because of the design of the Tacoma frame horns. Because of that, ARB developed their recovery point.

In any case, yes I believe can bolt the OR/Pro hook onto an SR. You might need to remove the chin strap to access it though.

I’ve made use of mine several times, including being recovered from partially frozen mud up to the frame with a 20k winch.

Hey OP, I’ve got one listed in the BST threads that I’ll give you, if you determine it’ll work. You pay shipping.

It was a takeoff my 21 OR when I put bumper and winch on.

You think yellow will draw enough attention? Or should I go lime green?

    FYI—it takes longer bolts also.
