Used, take off. Can't buy them used. I took mine off and threw it in dumpster. That's what I thought about it. Went with MX4, instead.

There's someone on ebay selling his for about 550. https://www.ebay.com/itm/134408007625 It's for a 2023 but it likely fits anything 2016 or newer.

I have one. Like it enough to keep it but would go after market if it didn't come with one. Out there on the left coast (guessing by your username), you might find a cap dealer who has one recently removed from one of his customers. Might even install it for you for a nominal cost and sell it cheap if not willing to give it to you just to get rid of it. Long shot I'm sure but a few telephone calls or emails to some cap dealers might save you quite a bit of money.

Can you point me in the direction of this dumpster? Mine came with an Extang Solid Fold 2.0, and it's garbage. Shifts all over the place no matter how tight you clamp it down (held in place by plastic wingnut looking things), and the latches in the rear are cheap, spring-loaded plastic.
An OEM is 10x better than this junk.

Love my OEM cover. Looks like new, functions perfect for me, no issues, no leaks and I personally think it's the best fitting cover out there. No clamps, no holes to drill, no drain tubes, no issues and no bullshit!

Worst POS Toyota plastic, my truck is three years old and it’s all faded to a green color (I swear it’s made from recycled plastic from green garbage cans) and the paint on the center bow peeled right off. Makes my truck look like a 1970.
I bought a new one. I’m in new england if you want it you can have it. Functionally it’s fine.

I'll agree with the fading, mine is doing the same, but not to green, I put some Chemical Guys plastic conditioner on it and it stays looking in great shape.

I have not tried that product but I have used several and it just makes it a "shiny green surface". I considered taking it off and painting it matte black (I run a body shop) but I really need access to the full bed so I purchased a roll-up cover.

    Rusty,

That's why I eventually will replace mine, is due to the fact I can't access the front area without a reach. Doesn't the roll up design occupy space in the front though??

Not at all it's a soft roll up. It sits on top of the front bed rail. They use two small straps (similar to the ones on the tri-fold) to hold the assembly rolled tightly. It's not a security cover by any means, but then again locks only keep honest people out!

Thanks for clarifying, I've been looking at the hard roll ups, I travel alot and a little security would be important to me. Right now I'm making do with the factory cover. Thanks for the chat sir!

    My pleasure!
I still have not installed the roll up cover for my 3rd gen.....when I get it installed later this month I'll post up a picture of it rolled up so you can get a better idea of what it's like.
Note that there are some hard roll up options out there but I cannot comment on how much space they take up in the bed when they are in the open position. I'm sure it's a lot less than a fold up cover, just be prepared to spend some $$$ as they're pricey.
If anyone has a retractable roll up cover could you please post a picture of it in the full open position?

I had retractable on another truck. Can takes up roughly 8"x8". The problem I had was, living in upper Midwest. Can/box would build up with ice, and couldn't open cover all the way. I would have open up and chip ice out
Then I put a heat tape it. Plug it in over night, to melt and drain it. Pain in the ass.

I have a soft roll up on my 2022 and expected some water in the bed but not the amount I’m actually getting when it rains. I’m currently sitting in the dealership and there is a 2023 Taco in the showroom with OEM trifold. It looks decent on the truck. Does it do well with keeping most water out?

Geez, all this hate for the OEM cover. Like several others, I would have opted for a Lomax or Bakflip had my truck not come with the OEM cover, but the the Toyota cover does the job admirably well. My only complaint is it is heavy and while one person can remove it, having two people makes the job a LOT faster and easier.

I frequently have to remove it myself. It is heavy, but definitely doable. If mine didn't come with it, I likely wouldn't have one at all. I'm not much of a tonneau cover/topper fan. Not here to argue the practicality though. My last truck also came with a topper and I never removed it in the 4 years I owned it. They're helpful for extra weight in the winter too.

Agreed. In my case, I'd much rather brush 18" of snow off the cover than shovel it out of the bed, so one way or another, my truck would have a cover. :)
