I bit the bullet and ordered the complete 500Q OEM audio system from TacomaBeast. Right now they are waiving the $100 shipping charge and discounting the price of the system.

    Use discount code OEM200.

    A few points...
    1. It's extremely obvious the marketing department had a lot to do with the description on their website and the actual systems design. Lots of hoopla and fancy words.
    2. Unless you drive from the back seat and the driver's seat, that proprietary 6 mic array is 100% pointless, with the exception of marketing to the uninformed.
    3. "Tuned for Tacoma acoustics" means you have to use that system exactly as delivered. Don't use sound deadenor or other electronics with it.
    4. "Factory warranty remains." 100% bullshit. ANY mods and the dealer can decline your warranty. You can fight it and probably win but the fact remains the dealer can decline to use the warranty on a modified vehicle.
    5. The tweeter has a 6 db crossover because it's been combined with a 6X9 woofer. It's definitely not an optimum arrangement. The designers were obviously more concerned about marketing than sound quality.
    6. The subwoofer doesn't bolt in. That in itself is a loss of bass and is probably compensated with electronics.
    7. "Installs behind driver's seat." That will make the driver and passengers have a completely different sound. Exactly like my trucks system.
    8. I couldn't find a picture of the sub in a truck.

I'm being critical but am just pointing out flaws of the design and the ad. If you stick exactly to their program it'll probably sound pretty good.

I don't have a quad cab, I have an extra cab. My system has a $89 Pioneer deck, $69 Pioneer 2 way speakers in the doors, a generic sub box for a 10" sub with a 12" sub bolted in. No amp. The deck has MOSFET outputs which means it's bridgeable. There is a lot of adjustability in that deck and it sounds great. Both windows rolled down on the freeway and I only hear semi's road noise and a few mud type tires driving by. 6 years and still rockin like day 1. I have 36 years of professional experience btw.

My only complaint is that this is literally the OEMaudio system, and aside from just the picture of the sub with the sticker on it, they don’t actually say it is OEMaudio’s system. Taking credit for other’s work, just like they do with everything else.

As for the post above, I don’t really understand the point?
“Here’s several reasons the product you bought is no good”
I mean, he already bought it and is willing to pay for simplicity. Nothing wrong with that. All the negative points made aren’t helping.

To the OP, congrats on upgrading the audio and let us know how you like the OEMaudio system!

If you don't understand the point then I can't help you. Perhaps my points will help people reading this thread thinking about buying the same setup.

You put quotes in there, now quote me where I wrote anything close to your qoute. I'll be back to check...

I specifically wrote it probably sounds pretty good dipshit (destin).

Simplicity is huge, especially if a person is trying to save outrageous install prices from shops like the one you work in. Again - all the negative points might help someone else.

Destin you're not exactly a deep independent thinker are you? Rhetorical.

Post up your thoughts after installation. I am considering the same system out of convenience and because I don't know much about audio equipment. I like the clean look of this setup. Congrats on the new system.

    OK.

First, let me say the sound quality kicks ass over the stock system. Well worth it for me.

However, the 500Q system is not as Plug & Play as they advertise. For one, the Tweeters ship with no plugs on the ends of the wires; only soldered-on pins. The installation requires that you use a straight Pick Tool and remove the factory tweeter plug pins from the factory tweeter and then insert the pins from the new tweeters into the blank plug. Why don't they ship the tweeters with plugs already installed? Because according to OEM Audio, Toyota doesn't offer the tweeter plug as a replacement part by itself. So they say.

Second, they are constantly refining the system and their documentation and installation instructions are not always up-to-date with the latest configuration. The wiring harness they ship is not exactly like wiring harness described in installation instructions or videos. Oh, and it does not ship with the instructions; you have to download them PDF format from the OEM Audio Plus website.

And despite what the pictures in the instructions suggest, you cannot simply fish the wiring harness to the back of the factory head unit. There are four plugs on that end of the harness and it does not easily feed through the area underneath the head unit. I had to disassemble half of the driver's side dashboard to install the cable that connects to the back of the head unit.

This is definitely not a project for beginners. Fortunately, I do have some experience with installing car audio.

OP do you have a the stock head unit? I upgraded my head unit today and I noticed the stock speakers sounded 10 times better. If you have the stock head unit it might give your system another boast to upgrade it
