Has anyone taken off the OEM roof rack from the dealership and replaced it back with the weather stripping? Mine is leaking inside the cab and dealership has the parts on order. Just seeing if anyone has replaced it back to stock and what process they used to cover up the bolt holes.

You could do it, but it’s a lot of holes to try and seal off. I’d use an excessive mount of silicone or rtv to try and seal them off.

There’s ways to stop the leaking if you want to keep the roof rack. Not sure on the best process for returning to stock but I’m sure it can be done.

your best bet would be to use the original hardware in the holes and apply a liberal amount of slicon over them. Unless the dealer can get the original sticker covers.

holes dont go through to the interior, you have a leak somewhere else. the oem holes with rivnuts are there, with weatherproof tape, then the moulding slips into the channel. the moulding is held on in front and rear by retainer clips. and the rear has double sided tape where it wraps from the roof to cab back panel at the back glass. the worst part about swapping back to the mouldings is, the rubbing the roof rack did to the roof finish... and you have to glue the front and rear retainers down, with something that wont come off. fill the holes with silicone, and weatherproof tape over them, for peace of mind. for the record, i switched mine from the rack back to the mouldings, not a fan of the look. cost about 150 bucks for the mouldings and retainers. the new mouldings wont cost me anything its being covered by warranty because the dealer is the one who installed the roof rack. personally i dont like the roof rack it came with the truck when i bought it.

I had one, then removed my roof rack for a while. I just cleaned the channels and put a couple of layers of duct tape over the holes. It rained a lot, no leaks. If I was taking the rack off permanently, I would have filled the bolt holes with silicone before the tape. A few beads of HomeDepot window caulking held the weather stripping on too.

FYI- I’m pretty sure I remember checking and the rivnuts on my truck weren’t the blind type and the holes went right through to the interior....

Make sure to collect your rack when you pick it up. I'd sell it and recoup the money.

I think the rack looks sexy. but opt for a slick roof. I worry about wind noise
