Curious if anyone has ordered genuine OEM parts from Amazon? If so, how was your experience?

I think they’re hit or miss,,, as far as genuine. Amazon sells lots of knock off crap.
If the price is too good, that’s a good indicator.

I got lucky and got a OEM bed mat and then the black fog light bezels and a few other parts from Amazon. I made sure the part numbers matched aswell as the description. Then check to make sure they are sold by and shipped by Toyota dealerships.

EDIT: just seen ^^ he posted the same info.

I usually look at the seller if I order from Amazon.

I’ve seen BAM on there, also I make sure in the notes its listed as OEM with the part number.

It’s a bit tedious but helps fish out most items since there are a lot of fakes out there.

I have as well. Like mentioned above, I like to check if they're coming from an actual Toyota dealer or not. But generally I would try my best to order OEM stuff from RockAuto (Denso, Aisin, etc) so long as the price is right. I've had good experiences with Amazon though. Just depends on what all you're ordering.

Thanks for all the feedback. Some of the sellers have parts numbers, and I've been able to verify them on this board (i.e. TRD Pro grille, skid plates, etc.).

There is so much counterfeit on Amazon that I don't even buy OEM parts there. I go to my local dealer.

I’ve ordered some small things. Seems like it usually ships from a Toyota dealer.

Sometimes it’s the best route, end up winning w free shipping if you have prime.

I tend to compare prices, saved $48 via shipping at one point for a lower bumper valance.

I have had good experiences buying OEM parts on Amazon (things like T-Case fluid, Toyota coolant and oil filters). I have even had good experiences buying after-market parts on Amazon. I just installed an after-market plastic front bumper on my daughter's Scion XB. The fit and ease of install was very good. Yes, I did have a body shop paint the bumper first.

Just like with Ebay, try and verify the seller's location (not where it's shipping from but where the seller is based out of). If it's someplace like China and you think you're ordering OEM parts, they won't be. They are really good about counterfeiting the dealership boxes and bags, part number stickers, etc.

and the counterfeit stuff is always sold at a big discount compared to the real deal. If it's too good to be true it most likely is.

Bought oil filters and plug gaskets from Amazon. They were sold by a Toyota dealership through amazon.
    They were genuine.

I got a multi pack of oil filters off Amazon. Pics were of original product online but that wasn't what I got it was laughable. The boxes were bad quality print,no hologram and the filters were not like the oem from Walmart or the dealership. I returned it.

Also had an issue with finding a locking gas cap. The Stant part number is often counterfeited. I had got one from Amazon that was fake, one from the local Advance Auto parts that was fake. The real one ended up coming from O'Reilly's. There is no local O'Reilly's so I had to order it online.

    Yeah.
Walmart actually sells OEM Toyota oil filters now. I usually just buy in bulk on eBay from a dealership seller. I've bought a couple of "OEM" parts on Amazon and pretty sure they were both fake. Gas cap for our old '06 4Runner looked pretty legit, but it didn't seal properly and wasn't the same as the replacement I got from the dealer.

    I've ordered:

Camshaft position sensor plug and pigtail (damn rats)
Gasket kit for Transfer and Differential service
    Breather for rear diff mod
Bed header rail (for rail directly behind rear window)

All were OEM and 100% what I wanted for less money or quicker delivery than the dealership at the time of ordering.
