Members beware. I decided to replace my oem "styled" mudflaps with the oem Canadian version. I noticed that the edge of flaps began to dig into the clear coat. I had the same issue with my 07 Gen 2, but those dug into the fender flares and created damage. All you have to do, is move the mudflaps and see if you have a gouge. As a side note (I mentioned this before on another post), I took Toyota to small claims court, after the dealer and Toyota told me to go fly a kite. The court appointed attorney (which reviews all cases before going to the judge) said my claim had no merit because it was out of warranty and said I would lose. Toyota shows up with an Engineer and someone from Legal. Long story short, I presented my case with evidence, facts and won. Toyota paid for my repairs.

Now, I find that my 24 has the same issue. The flaps have a sharp edge that's digging into the clear coat. If you leave them there long enough it will create significant damage. I installed the Canadian version (they also have sharp edges) but sanded the edges and added 3m protective tape to the body where the flaps meet the fenders. Not sure about the Gen 3's (I suspect it's the same) but the Gen 2's are affected (if OEM flaps were installed.)

Naaa, but i do think about resale. The body shops will charge you significant $ for repair/repaint.

Can you please provide the Toyota part numbers for the larger, Canadian Mud Flaps? Do you know if they will fit my Pro with the fender flares? Does yours have extended fender flares?

    Thanks!!!!

I bought Weathertech mud flaps for my 2023 Tacoma. They were a similar design to the 4th Gen stock mud flaps and I had the same thing happen. I didn't want to have to worry about the flaps rubbing the paint away and causing rust. So I ditched them in favor of RekGen mud flaps which don't make any contact with the paint. I prefer the look of stock mud faps, but I prefer the peace of mind with the aftermarket flaps.

This is the part number I ordered for my Off Road: PK389-35R00P1. Not sure if the Pro fender flares are the same (except for paint) as the OR...

Correct. The Gen 2 will dig and gouge the plastic fender flares. Looked like hell on my 07 (Desert Sand color) when they came off.

Could you please verify that part number? It is one digit short. Also, does this one part number include all four mud flaps? Thanks again for your help!

I ordered these from 3 different suppliers to have a email sent two days later stating they are backordered and they have no date when available, so they cancelled order. I got pissed and ordered Ark flaps on November 6th. The Ark flaps arrived today with a little hole in box big enough that the hardware is missing. They are sending out new hardware. Nothing goes easy.

Good customer service with the Ark people. I had a question about the install (because I didn't read the instructions carefully like a fool) and they replied back maybe 10 minutes after I sent the email.

Same happened to me but the flaps were shipped approximately 2 weeks after the notice.
