So I saw that AirOnBoard.com had this....
And I had to have it...

    So I bought it.. (http://www.aironboard.com/online/pu...cement-garage-opener-momentary-led-green.html)

I did a bunch of research on if I should buy a HomeLink from another vehicle and wire it in some how, but I was nervous about buying one and it not working...

Then I decided to open up my garage door opener and poking at connections I thought may connect.. and found them!

A little soldering and made two wires come out of the garage door opener.. Ground down where the wires could come out with no issue, and snapped it back together..

Here it is loomed up with a nice connector.
    20150911_221021_zpsqxjdxnqz_29ca56cfac50eaf149fcbac635a9eb0fcbec9f48.jpg

Here is original switch set up..
    20150903_212242_zpszshfni4r_666e0fbf065e872a10a621a63fbb03c361f048c1.jpg

Moved them around, stuck garage door opener on the left side of the underside of the dash..
    20150903_212431_zpsujtriiaj_4b463664f0e83c89dd20415fcee44544c09186d7.jpg

And here it is finished and working!
    20150903_212448_zpsku6l4ohs_49fc1247887a8f37876ffd1ef1dbfec23b9dff5e.jpg

Only down fall is it does not light up with the lights of the vehicle, as it is not connected to it electronically. If I had done Homelink I could have probably done so.. Black and Red Wire go to one wire of the garage door opener, and green goes to the other side for it to work. This way I set it up I can always remove remote to change battery, or if I need it in another vehicle.

Now that's brilliant man. Good job. If my opener wasn't from the 80's try and talk you into a kit. But very good clean job man I like it.

Let me know how it works! I still may try to do the HomeLink if I ever find one in a scrap yard.

Motorcycle guys have been doing this for years. I made a few kits that used a voltage regulator and wired it in using a relay to the battery. Never had to change a battery again.

Yes, flash2pass is the main stream system I used to sell for jcwhitney/allbikesupershop before they were shipped off to the Phillipines. I couldn't seem to find much info on them being around any more though.

If want that switch to light up... It is easy. You only need to wire the red and green wire to the remote. You only need to complete the circuit like you are pressing the button on the remote. You can wire the blue wire to the "tail" fuse with the add a circuit so it lights up when the headlight switch is turned on.

Personally, that's all the lighting you probably need but you can incorporate a relay to make it light up fully. You could go with a normal relay or go with a silent solid state relay. Just a thought.

I tried doing just two wires to get it to work and no since pair would work so I had to try 2 wires on one side and 1 on the other.

This blank pushed out really easy, didn't snap or click or anything? I just snaked my arm around until I could push first on the cubby spot that is molded into the switch cover and then to this blank which almost fell out in my hand?

What I want to do is mod/add a garage door opener to my base model taco.
    http://www.cnet.com/roadshow/auto/2016-toyota-tacoma-4wd-access-cab-i4-at-sr/specs/

After a week or so of crawling the forums I found this post and a more specific one here.
    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/no-homelink®-no-problem-first-mod.394920/

There are some badass switches here and the only ones label "Garage Opener" I could find thus far.
    http://www.aironboard.com/online/pu...nt-garage-opener-momentary-led-green-red.html

I do have questions, one to remove the cubby/switch cover do I simply pull, pry and push it out for the clips to release OR do I first have to remove a dash 10mm bolt? Almost every where I have seen has this topic they say you have to pull the door sill, the foot-rest and this lower dash bolt for the switch panel to snap off. Granted all those posts are on older models with completely different interiors. Question is does this pop off or should I get more leverage on it? I've already scratched and marred it with a screwdriver (only noticable to me) and don't want to do more damage.

Big Shout Out to the "OP" on this one. I've been trying to decide which direction to go to mod my garage door opener.

I've bought the AOB switch kit and it's on its way. Since I posted above about having trouble with my OEM remote, I think I'll follow OP's instructions here first before hard wiring this old OEM remote's circuit board direct to the truck for power. Maybe the circuit board is okay and another part of the remote went bad, what do y'all think?

Then after a while if the remote works well, I'll go back in and bypass the remote's battery power and hard wire it, unless popular opinion says otherwise.

Woohoo, just got email notification my AOB switch shipped today ordered yesterday.

Bed rug, ARE bed top, Weathertechs. Little goodies here and there!
If 12v kills it, look for a door opener from a Lincoln that goes in the visor. I'm sure something like this could be modded to work. I found one at the local pic n pull for free as the visor it self was broke. Haven't worked it yet, but need to test the buttons before diving in.

Mine lights up with the dash lights, but I can't figure out how to get the top light to light up when pressed. Any tips? I currently have red and green to garage door opener board, black to ground, and blue to green dash light wire from bed light switch.

You would need to incorporate a relay into the mix. The light in the switch needs 12 volts to light up. That same voltage would cause issues with the garage remote. You would be inducing voltage into the remote that wasn't designed for.

A standard relay would work. Wires from pin 30 & 87 would take the place of the red and green wire to the remote. The red wire could be wired to a constant or switched 12 volt source. The green wire would be wired to pin 86 on the relay. Pin 85 would be wired to ground.

The switch will light up like you want after doing this.

Sweet! It was bugging me that the switch wasn't "fully" working.
