Just rotated my tires in my driveway as I've done many times with the spare and OEM jack. This time the bottle jack gets stuck halfway down.

I can get it out from under the truck ok, but it won't fit in the slot behind the seat. Its about 4" up from where it needs to be.

    Any ideas?

Yes, stand on the ram, open the valve first. It probably needs a bit of weight to completely retract.

It's the OEM jack. Not hydraulic.

How is standing on a screw jack going to do anything but make me look like a circus clown?

    Seriously?!?!?!

Ok, don't stand on it. What you are not hearing is the jack needs some additional weight for it to retract.

If that doesn't work, then something is wrong with the jack. A screw jack will retract by turning the actuator. If the actuator doesn't turn......something is wrong with the jack.

Or, just toss the jack in the bed of the truck and call it done.

@Knute is correct... my oem screw bottle jack (non hydraulic) needed some extra weight to help it down sometimes to fully retract.

Yeah, seriously. If standing on it makes it retract, what good is it when it has the entire weight of the truck on it.

Sounds like you are screwed. Extend it fully, try to retract, then defenestrate it safely.

You stated the jack lowered enough for you to pull it from under the truck. The truck had weight on the jack............

Yeah, I get that. But every time I've used it in the past (many times) you can easily turn the knuckle with your hand to retract it. This time it makes a hard stop at a specific point.

Then I'd suspect something is wrong or broken on the jack............

Being that you use it often, do you ever service it? Grease, etc..?
