Hi, where do you buy OEM battery and how much does it cost? Local dealers are out of stock and I don't know if Advance Auto Parts and AutoZone's quality is reliable although they are not cheap either ($160 to 250). The OEM battery is 5 years old and works OK. I heard some aftermarket batteries last for only 3 years or less.

Why do you need to change the battery? They usually last over 5 years.. up to 8 years + I’ve got out of factory batteries.
that being said if your truck starts sluggish it can be checked.
I would suggest a load test from your local shop, dealer or you can even buy a load tester for cheap.
Look for a battery supplier near you or google search battery name brands and see what comes up locally. Good luck

My OEM battery died just before the truck was a year old. When the time comes I’ll replace with one from Costco or Walmart.

I think I hit around the 2 year mark

$160 seems right in the area for a mid grade brand. That’s what I usually go with for my truck. Suits my needs

My battery is OK right now but I just want to be prepared for the cold weather. I have another car that is not used often. The battery was drained a few times after sitting for over a week in cold weather then finally died.

5 years LOL... 8 years????.... LOL

In Phoenix we get 2 years out of a battery, might get 3 years if lucky, very lucky.

I went with the x2 from Batteries plus. It’s a rebadged Odyssey at 1/2 the cost. AGM Sealed battery with no issues.

I just bought an everlast battery from auto zone for $150. This is an item which I won’t loose sleep if I don’t buy an expensive one.. I have no accessories on my truck so no need to go bigger…

my oem lasted 2 1/2 years

I replace my batteries every three years because I live “up nort” and they always die when it’s below zero when I’m away from home. I usually buy an above average cost battery.

Heat kills batteries faster than cold temps, that’s why you don’t get much life out of them down south.

If it’s fine, better off investing in a trickle charger for vehicles you don’t use often. $50 and you’ll get way more service out of a battery than letting it drain and charge constantly. But $160 is about average and they are all pretty much the same dealer or aftermarket store (lead acid variety), what you’re paying for is the warranty, don’t buy into the label / brand, there are only a few real manufacturers.

The original OEM battery in my 2018 just died and I replaced it with an Interstate from Costco.

The OEM battery in my 2017 didn't make it to the two year mark. Bought the cheapest battery O'reilly's had in stock to replace it. It has lasted for three years and is still going strong.

When my OEM died, I bought a SAMs Club 3-year battery. If I get 3 years, I’ll be lucky. When you get that slower than normal start feeling, don’t wait, and don’t spend too much as not sure extra cash for better will be worth it.

I'm going on about 4 1/2 years on my Toyota Truestart 84 month warranty battery here in AZ. I think they go for $150-$200, but mine was free (oem leaked and was replaced under warranty within a few months of buying my truck). I do put a ctek charger on it every now and then.

You might ask your dealer's parts department to call around and check inventory. Otherwise find a mid grade one with a solid replacement warranty. I haven't had good luck with other batteries, usually 1-2 years, so I hope I can get another Toyota truestart when needed.
