I'll bet they weren't WT High Performance. I don't like the old style WTs either.

After having WT for several months I will say they are a pita to get unlocked and locked when they get dirty (as they do in winter). Coverage wise they are amazing. I have not had a chance to truly clean them as it is never ending winter in CO right now. I barely get a layer of mag chloride off every couple weeks. I have not seen the Husky or I would have entertained them as well.

As far as locking and unlocking these floor mats...they were a pita both husky, and the Toyota ones till you get a bunch of time on them removing, and reinstalling them. Seems once the carpet in the truck gets matted down it gets easier to lock them in place.

Is it worth getting Husky or WeatherTech for the back seats? They look very similar to the OEM rubber mats.

Just ordered up a set of WT’hp, I had a OG set in my last truck and liked them. They were stiff and hard to clean.
I don’t think you can go wrong with either one, both seem top notch.

Will you have passengers back there? If not, you could use just about anything. I went with old style WTs since it's just the wife and me.

I have a double cab. I think it is worth it. The back seat doesn't get a lot of passenger use, but I put a lot of of things on the floor back there like wet muddy or sandy boots, groceries, dog water and food dish, etc. It saves time cleaning up and protects the carpet.

One soggy grocery bag leaking milk or Coca-Cola all the way home from a tipped over bottle is all it takes to ruin your day.

My tacoma was ordered with the Toyota front and rear rubber mats, but my 2001 tundra came with none...I bought both front, and rear husky mats for that truck. The carpet in the tundra was still like new in that rear cab 19 years late. I store a lot of ugly crap at times on the floor of the rear cab too.

In my experience with both Husky and Weathertech, the Husky seem to fit the floor contours better longer.

I ended up with Husky. I wasn't sure if they would be a big improvement over the Toyota mats, but the coverage is better and they seem like they would hold more crap. I thought the Toyota mats were very good for OEM, but I needed something a little better for New England snow and mud.

Here's a comparison for those interested:

I used WeatherTech for years . . . . and they are OK
But our brothers from the north in Canada know nasty weather and how to deal with it.
They make by far the most superior floor mats in TuxMat.
Does it cost a bit more? Yes. Is it worth the extra cost? Also yes, by a long shot.
They are more rugged than WT, fit as well if not better (I had fitment issues with WT on a Honda CR-V but not on a bevy of other vehicles)
But the biggest plus is the coverage - back and front - waaaaay better than WT. I can't comment on Husky personally but by the pics I would say TuxMat covers better as well IMHO.

Good info. I thought the Tux Mat looked awesome but a few people said they don't handle mud and slop as well as the others. I might try the Tux Mat for my wife's car.

Dang wish I'd seen these before I got my WTs. Nothing wrong with the WT, but I am down with that thickness and side coverage.
