So I need to replace my engine air filter and was wondering what’s better the OEM air filter or the K&n filter?

Save your money, the OEM supplies more than enough air to the engine

And you don't want that oil to get on your MAF sensor.

OEM would have saved me A LOT more money had I stayed with them and not gotten a K&N...

MAF died after 80K miles on my 2002, burnt oil on it.

It all comes down to torque when it comes to trucks. I do not believe K&N Air Filter gives you more HP over the OEM filter.

Replaced my filter with an OEM replacement at 17K miles. Motor was immediately more responsive and miles/gal went up. Spent $28 but was worth it.

No I don't believe that either but they do increase the air flow by 50% thus lowering the intake air. I have a scan gauge 2 and after installing the K & N the intake air is only about 3 degrees warmer than the outside air temp. That has to increase the HP some.

I used k&n for years, was always the first thing I changed when getting a new vehicle. Never had any issues but finally just got tired of washing, drying, reoiling. Its so much easier just to pop the lid and throw in a new filter.

OEM -Friends don't let friend do oiled filters

The actual truth is the OEM can flow more air than your engine can use. While it is true that an oiled filter can flow more air it does it by letting more dirt through. Since the OEM is not a bottle neck the downside of dirt and maintenance tip the scales to make OEM the best bang for the buck.

If you aren't in Cali, rip out the charcoal filter under the airbox lid.

I wonder why they call it a Mass Air Flow sensor? Is it to possible that it adjusts the mass of the air flow as needed? :notsure:

If all that were true about the K&N I wonder why Toyota sells a performance TRD air filter that is about the same as a K&N.
