    Hey guys,

Just sharing pics of my battery install.

I noticed a lot pics of Optima and diehard batteries but not too many of Odyssey ones. I am not here to debate which ones are better. I believe it really depends on needs, past experiences and personal preferences. Just wanted to share some pics on what it looks like in our trucks should you want to consider it as an option in your truck. I just want to do my part in sharing since so many of you have helped me make better decisions by posting your experiences and pictures.

I purchased the battery from AutoZone online and had it shipped home, it actually was the best deal I found. Shipping was free and I was able to take the old stock battery back to a local Autozone to get the core charge back. Odyssey says on their website that installation requires an optional height adapter but I didn't need it.

At first, I just did the battery without the HK-PC1500 Hold down kit and ended up using a $4 kit from Autozone. It was like a piece of rubber that just stretched over and clamped down. It seemed to work just fine once you got enough pressure on it. However, after about 2 weeks, the rubber ended up snapping. So I ended up buying the nice HK-PC1500 kit. It's a bit expensive, about $130 from Amazon but very nice!

Installation of the kit was very easy! It took me about 2 hours, but I milked it and took my sweet ass time. You will need some stainless steel nuts, bolts, washers and I like to add lock nut washers. I drilled about 3 holes, and got the new tray secured pretty good and it went together nicely. See the pics.

As always, feel free to PM for advice or questions.

    Enjoy!

Yes, the bottom of the kit is a solid piece of aluminum. (Should have taken pics before I put battery in, stupid me!)

It has pre-drilled holes on ends which I used for my nuts and bolts to secure to sheet metal. It's rock solid and not going anywhere!

Of course you could always weld in but that's a bit overkill unless you plan on doing some serious off-roading.

    Good Luck!

This seems like it would work if I add a plate to the side of it to mount my ARB air compressor.
I have not found a good solution until now.
    Thanks

What all did it take to get that 31 in there? On my FZJ I went w/dual batteries but on this truck I'll be doing a 31 & solar panel. Thanks!

Im running a 100 watt panel as well when on a camping trip. It does pretty well. The Group 31 fits perfectly with the Pelfreybilt battery hold-down in there.

What's the thickness on that mount? They don't have it listed on their site.

Looks like you didn't have to lengthen any of the cables to reach the battery terminals like some did. Is that correct?

Correct. No problem using the stock length battery wires on my 2013.
