    Hello everyone,

I recently purchased a new 2024 Tacoma but it has the auto start/stop and you have to hit the switch each time you turn on the truck to disable it. I used the auto start stop eliminator in the past for another vehicle but they do not make one for the Tacoma :(. I really would love some input if anyone knows if there is a device like this to install or can you disable it through a OBD2 tool and if so which one would be good to buy for a decent price that is easy to use?

    Thank you all! :)

Just curious why you don't like that feature? I don't have it on mine because it's an MT, but if I had it, I would think I would love the idea to save a little fuel when not moving. Except if the system works crappy, then I'd like to disable it.

#1 it is not good for the engine long term
#2 it is annoying to me, LOL

With the Auto stop eliminator I had in another vehicle what ever setting you had it one would be the same when you started the vehicle again and I didn't have to hit the button every time.

#3 there is a delay to get going after it stops.

I had it in a work car, a 2020 Jeep Cherokee. I got used to turning the feature off at start-up. I was glad to give up the car to a sup after a year.

Have you tried putting it in Sport mode? It should disable start/stop.

Doesnt look like you can yet, but the switch is super easy to tap into when a little solenoid comes out that simply closes the switch when the truck is started, then opens it.

Just wait for now, it will come.

I hate start stop as a tech, I like my stuff to keep running.

My TRD off-road doesn't have it either. I've got a premium trim.

I don't think so, but perhaps. I believe you're talking about the Carista OBD app. Here's a video of what it can do:

You'll have to pause it to see the option.

What trim level has auto start/stop??

Just curious, as I have a sport premium and Reklov has an off-road premium and neither have it.

    I’m guessing it’s the hybrid.

My TRDOR 6Mt doesn't have it and I'm so happy for that. How does it not induce premature wear? I imagine it starting and stopping 50 times a day with traffic. What a stupid idea

oh man I’m so glad my truck doesn’t have that. My wife’s car has it and it drives me nuts cuz I always forget to disable it until I pull up to a light and the engine shuts off

Start/stop is another added expense you can thank the EPA for. Most cars I have driven won't even start shutting off the car until the engine is at operating temp to save wear but it still likely causes additional wear that is not needed in your engine. I think Ford mentioned that in their trucks with start/stop it saves about 1% in fuel. So if you spend $2500/year in fuel you are saving around $25.00. So it takes several years to pay for the added expense you are paying for to have that tech.

Try pressing the brake lighter once stopped. Pretty sure that's a workaround until someone comes out with an override.

I have a 2024 TRD-OR Premium. It doesn't have auto-stop/start. Which models does this "feature" exist on?

Reminds me of the Audi unintended acceleration debacle of the 1980’s.

Yes, you can do that but it gets old quickly, and you have to be upfront to see the side lights. This will certainly not be a big issue in rural driving folk.

Ugg, hated start/stop on my mothers BMW. I just couldn't get used to the delay. It's like going up a set of stairs with one riser to high or low by 1/4". Your gonna stumble.

Loved the "heads up display w/navigation" in the BMW tho. I would get that option if available.

I would have to see pretty serious gas savings in the auto start/stop “feature” to make up for how f****ng annoying I find it. 1% is not nearly enough
