Has anyone messed around with the new OBD Fusion CarPlay app? Pretty handy to have some PIDs that you can display while driving without the need of something like ScanGuage. Works with wireless CarPlay adapters as well.

Any other useful PIDs that I should monitor add? I have the Toyota/Lexus/Scion add-ons as well.

    Probably voltage instead of speed.

I attempted to add in some extra PIDs to the carplay set up preferences. I can only get standard PIDs to show up on the carplay side (ex... RPM, Speed, & coolant temp) I selected the PIDs like the A/T Temp and voltage from the Toyota add on pack and it does not display those PIDs just gives a few dashes where the value should be. Any tips on how you got the A/T temp to display a value ?

Yeah I have started to run into some weird issues where after adding a new PID, it breaks the existing PIDs. I almost wonder if it has to do with the amount of PIDs? It seems up to 4 is fine, but adding a 5th is when things get weird. Haven't found the pattern yet.

My current PIDs that seem to be stable are:
    • Coolant Temperature (Under 'Engine' in the Toyota, Lexus, Scion pack)
    • BATT Voltage (Under 'Engine' in the Toyota, Lexus, Scion pack)
    • A/T Oil Temperature No. 1 (under 'Transmission' in the Toyota, Lexus, Scion pack)

My current PIDs that I thought were stable stopped working today. Still trying to figure out why as I didnt change anything from yesterday. I am thinking about getting a new bluetooth OBD II adapter (currently using the Carista one).

Same here. Deleted PIDs in carplay down to 3, rebooted everytbing a few times, restored purchases, etc.; everything excluding reinstall the app. Using 2021 Toyota PIDs byt haven't defined any myself.

Waiting to see if it works in next few days before reinstalling.

Also have the Carista BT adapter.

I had the veepek and a cheaper one and eventually go the ODBFusion MX+ and its hands down better than the rest. Comes with the Toyota pids already pre loaded too.

Had no idea they added a carplay app. I have been using an android odb fusion app on my HU but carplay would be nice. Ill check and report back when my truck is back.

I found that adding another Carplay screen then adding the Toyota PIDs will work even if my original Carplay screen with Toyota PIDs stops updating and substitutes the values with a dash character.

This seems like an interim fix until the bugs are worked out. I think this suggests that using the Carista BT adapter is probably not the issue.

On their App Store page, it does say “note that real-time gauges are not supported by CarPlay, so you can’t view your OBD Fusion pages such as dashboards on CarPlay.”

Not sure if that is any help.

The A/T Oil Temp is trans temp. I believe I read No. 1 is to use.

Good call, I created a new list called 'Monitors' and it seems to be working again. I am wondering if constantly tinkering with the list, it makes things buggy. After I created this single list, it works great. I will stop tinkering with it to see if it stays stable. I ordered the VeePeak and I will see if that's more stable. Another user earlier in the thread mentioned the OBDLink MX+, so I will look into that.

I think that means the graphical dashboards within the OBD Fusion app itself. It seems to report real-time PIDs, just in a numerical format, not graphic.

Great missed if you had it. there are 2 trans temp the pan and Torque converter for the Autos. but should be able to see both if you have the toyota pack for it. Etiher way glad to see they have a carplay app. cant wait to try it out.

I have lost and gained working Toyota PIDs several times in Carplay as of now. So far the strongest relationship I have seen regarding the Carplay update failure bug(s) is that the PID updates have only broken after editing the display name. I'll keep messing with it, but haven't caused this relationship to not be true yet. Then perhaps making a new panel to fix broken PIDs works by redefining the display name. Perhaps it is an error in how the display name string is sized when a panel is first initialized. Just a guess here based on quick testing of course.

    From the developer:

There is an issue displaying enhanced PIDs in CarPlay, and that will be fixed in the next update.

The OBD fusion app had an update today. Keeping my fingers crossed that the PIDs and other bugs have been fixed. I’ll give it a try on my commute home today.

Excellent, the update fixed the non-updating Toyota PIDs on my Carplay. Hoping it lasts :fingerscrossed:

Edit: The Carplay auto BT connect works too.

Fixed: Shift Status is updating again

I just took the truck for a spin and the lists that I made are all working again. I tried disconnecting, reconnecting, shutting the truck down, starting it again, etc and so far it's worked great. Fingers crossed it will last.

Ran into a new bug since the update, it seems like my 3rd list of PIDs will get deleted in 3/4 cycles of running the car and turning it off. Not a big deal at all since having 2 lists is plenty (1 for monitors and 1 for trip statistics). I've had it happened twice so far and the first time I wasn't so sure if I accidentally deleted it, but now that it's happened twice, I think it's a new bug.

Trying now to see if the 2nd list ever gets deleted.

But no issues with PIDs showing data. All is working on that front.
