Has anyone ever built a pulley lifting system to lift a truck cap off and hold the cap in the air when not on the truck? I don’t always have my cap on and it’s a bitch to take on and off myself. So I would like to build a system that would help lift it and I could tie it off have have it suspended in the air so I still have use of my garage. Have a few ideas but not sure if they work.

I use to use an old bait and tackle and tie the ropes to wooden beams I would slide under the cap and have it pull off my cap on my old truck and hold it on the ceiling.

Found a few videos on YouTube that use ratchet straps. So gonna try those.

You could always get a frontrunner rack installed on the camper and then lift from there... if it is strong enough to lift a Jeep, you can lift a camper.

Ok so after about 3hrs of ratcheting and being to damn stubborn to quit I finally have the cap high enough in the air I can have my garage back and can pull the truck in and work on it. 54E7C138-D8B6-4053-B41D-025B282AB959.jpg34689DBC-0A63-41FC-8308-63032FB69C13.jpg

Damn... that’s patience. Having to crank, walk, crank, walk, crank... got your steps in today.. and I can imagine what it’s gonna take to get it back down. No reverse crank on rachet straps.. I would try to rig a pulley system with just 1 or even 2 ropes..

I'm going to do the exact same thing when my garage is finished. I love my camper, but would love the ability to take it off and on easily.

I actually have a link somewhere on a motorized system made for ceiling storage that would work perfectly for this. I just have to find it somewhere.

Made a lot of mistakes on just the grille and filler pieces. Hopefully it doesn’t look too bad in the sun.
