These are 0mm 4.5 bs wheels on 1.25" spacers, so far I rub only on the inner fender at full stuff but you're also not running 315s so you should be fine lol

a foreigner who plans to road trip around USA in their own LC70, can bring their 70 series here into the states, however you are only permitted one year before you are required to export back out of the country.... you are not permitted to sell the vehicle though in this case..

federally, it would be illegal to keep the car here under its true name make model vin etc...
however as far as states go, since not every state has the same requirements, you probably could bend some rules and fool someone somewhere into something less than 100% legal

my best guess, there is a lot of grey area with this one particular sale
worst case, the feds get their hands on it and crush it and fine your ass to high heaven
best case, you can drive it albeit less than 50 states legal, and if anything just deal with some small potato tickets every so often

there are always loopholes, but rest assure they will come with a high risk price tag

You can import minitrucks ("Kei trucks") to the US.

    https://minitrucks.net/pages/mini-trucks-to-the-usa

You can register and drive Japanese mini trucks in most states if they are over 25 years old.

Since most Japanese mini trucks were never sold in the US market, they have not been certified by the government for street use. Despite this, the Imported Vehicle Safety Compliance Act of 1988 exempts cars that are 25 years or older, based on the manufacture date. This means that 25 year old mini trucks are street legal and can be registered and plated.

However, some states (MINE INCLUDED ) are just winging it their own way. Not even grandfathered in, just straight up "Nope, no more reg".

Yeah, I didn't see what year it was. I saw 62k and closed the tab :(

Also I thought it was 20, might be for some states. You can still bring them in and use them (depending on requirements) for OHV, IE: Bringing it to AOAA/private property, or as a farm vehicle, etc.

Maybe someone has paid for the crash testing on the vehicle in the past… only way I know of to get it in in less than the 25-20 years:notsure:

Something about needing 1 or 2 extra of the same make and model for crash testing …

out of my price range anyhow

At 25+ years old. Thats 1998, not 2011.

I was thinking hard about a Kei truck. I just don't know yet/want to spend $6-7k

Ive been looking for anything that is 1998 and older because my other friend has been making me help him with his 87 FJ60. Ive got the itch.

In VA I can register as an antique and I wouldn't have to do safety or emissions. There are other stipulations too, like can't drive everyday (but how will they notice if I drive 6 days a week :anonymous:)

    FJ60 pic for attention

Even if I had 62 grand burning a hole in my pocket, that risk ain't worth it.

You don't have to remind me that I'm old. I hear "20 years ago" and think "WOW so like, the 80s 90s?!" "No dingbat, Schwarzenegger was elected and the Columbia disintegrated - 2003, KEEP UP"

the bandeirantes are very cool, and very common in both south and central america

however not to be confused with a japanese built 40 series... there are some key drivetrain differences

nonetheless they are very cool indeed

It's actually an OJ55, longer wheelbase models tough as hell and they've got beaten to death all day every day in the Amazons. They are called cabina duplo back home.

Most of the 4drs and 2drs full cabs went to goverment agencies so they are a rarity even on the streets of Brazil. People there aren't exactly third world poor either so the really good one are kept for their enjoyment. It's the shitty ones we're starting to get.

Toyota seized production in 2001. Even getting body parts for them in Brazil is expensive.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toyota_Land_Cruiser_(J40)

In theory it is from the 40 series family, its just that they are built by toyota in their south american plants and not at their facilities in japan (while sourcing parts from other countries and manufactures)

toyota does a lot of this actually, for example in argentina they have a big hilux manufacturing plant

Both Ford and Volkswagen do the same thing as well, with manufacturing plants in both Brazil and Argentina

I posted a bit ago, but I'm officially ready to sell my Thule/Tepui Ayer 2. It'll come with the Tepui anti condensation mat as well as 2 covers (the older style Tepui cover as well as the newer style Thule/Tepui cover). I can include the C4 Fabrication Low-Pro bed bars for an additional cost if you are interested as well. The tent is in practically brand new condition, as I filed a warranty claim and got a new tent and cover back in July 2021 and have only used it twice since. Before getting the newer unit, I used it frequently with both my wife and I and were extremely comfortable in it. I can provide more pictures or answer any questions you may have. I'm located in the Philly suburbs but can easily meet you or help you put it on based on time, location, etc.

$900 for tent with anti-condensation mat and 2 covers.
$1000 for tent with anti-condensation mat, 2 covers, and bed bars.
