I've been running these in my truck since January or so. I also have black, wolf gray, and ranger green. Also have them in molle if you have panels in your vehicle.

Reviving an old thread. Do you have any experience with these? Been looking for some sort of a trauma medical kit for the truck and just in general to be better prepared.

My recommendation is to be careful what you purchase over Amazon, especially tourniquets, as the large majority of them are counterfeit. The CCRK is designed for a combat setting to serve as the medical equipment for an entire squad (6-8 people). I'd say it's extremely excessive for the majority of situations you would need to prep for. If you're looking for a do it all kit for the vehicle, I would say a TPAK is more suitable as it provides aid options specific for outdoor injuries/situations. On the day to day I have one of the headrest kits strapped to my driver headrest and a tourniquet on the side of each seat.

    https://www.narescue.com/trail-personnel-aid-kit-tpak.html
    https://www.narescue.com/ifak-headrest-kit.html

I can beat pricing online, but NAR is showing supply shortages and the actual lead times are not available. I do have several orange tourniquets in stock that I would sell on discount if you're interested.

Thanks for the wisdom! I found it odd, that NAR listed that CCRK pack as an item that needed medical verification (or however they put it) but I could get it on Amazon. Makes me wonder.

I’ll look more into that trail pack and head rest one. Might be closer to what I’m looking for. I want to get more than a basic kit, but not something I would/have no clue how, to use.

To be fair, I believe retailers have the ability to purchase items that require medical authorization, although I have not done so. I'm pretty sure the reasoning behind the CCRK requiring it is due to the Nasopharyngeal Airway and the Needle Decompression being included in the kit. Those items can injure/seriously injure an individual if you lack the knowledge. It's been awhile since I've attended an Army combat lifesaver course, but I don't think needle d's are even taught anymore. The I-ROK might be of use as well, but it lacks items like the split and emergency blanket.

Needle thoracostomy is still covered for 68W's, but is often omitted for CLS courses. It has a valid and important role, but is very easy to screw up - and realistically, given that most of us on TW are CONUS civilians with definitive medical care quickly available, it's not something to worry about/buy equipment to perform.

edit: North American Rescue is still a great place to buy medical supplies, and avoid Amazon.
Dark Angel Medical also offers well made kits in a couple of flavors that can be tailored to your specific application.

I'd say if there was ever worry of a chest puncture of some sort be it from a sharp object or a gun shot wound, I suppose a couple of Hyfin Vent Chest Seals wouldn't hurt. You'll need to find yourself in a real bad way if there was ever a need, but hell, it happens.

Yes, chest seals are much more useful than NCD needles for most people. Yes, they're great for penetrating chest wounds/thoracic trauma, but they can also be used elsewhere to secure bandages, etc.

I tend to overthink most things. Which is why I’m trying to strike that fine line between getting stuff I hope to never use and also getting stuff I could figure out how to use if absolutely necessary.

Just ordered two Cat-7s from you using your code. Thank you. They’re hard to find a discount on so I appreciate it.
