Does anyone in the area have any experience with rear diffs? I just got mine out and can't find anything wrong with it. But there is a very slight amount of play in the rear most u joint, could it be that?

Any play in a joint is bad. Think about it this way, your driveline rotates (I think you're running 456 gears, or is it 488?) 4.5 - almost 5 times as fast as your tires. You're tires are balanced to a 1/4 ounce. Every last bit of the driveline is important.

This is awesome! He is a handsome boy and I'm sure your Boston is going to love him.

Looks like he has suffered from a severe ear infection in the past, your going to want to keep an eye on his ears, once they get a bad infection it can become chronic. With one of our previous French bulldogs he had an infection before we got him that actually reached his brain and made him hold his head at an angle and made one of his eyes have limited vision. Our other bulldog gets minor infections about 4x a year.

They are such great dogs, your going to love him

    This^

If you can move the U joint around more than a teeny bit in the diff, the bearings are probably bad. Any sort of movement, front to back, side to side is bad, a brand new dif has almost no movement.

Because of the left ear? According to the lady I've been talking to from rescue organization her ear was like that since she was a pup.

But I hear ya, Poe has had a couple ear infections too. Gotta keep those open bat ears clean.

I need to swap mine out soon too, dreading it since last time I accidentally snipped the axle O ring and just threw some RTV in there to seal instead (with the O ring), so I bought a replacement O ring for this time but then realized I have to pull the entire wheel/axle out to get the O ring on lol. Which means brake lines. And I hate bleeding brakes.

I may have snipped my o ring too, need to take a closer look tomorrow.

Should there be any grease at the end of the axle?
