Been wearing the inflatable type for 30 years. Thing is, I never went in the water. A guy who had the same type jumped in once just to test it. It inflated automatically just fine. But if it doesn't, there is the manual pull cord. I have two. I may go test the oldest one just for the heck of it.

Yeah Bass Pro sells branded ones for about $20 cheaper. That’s what I’ve got, they’re comfortable enough that I’ll wear it all day fishing, load the boat up, get home and realize I’m still wearing the damn thing sometimes.

I watched a YouTube video where a kayaker found his buddy clinging to a pier support in the ocean at night. His auto inflate thing failed.

I wear a regular one. It’s not comfortable especially how tight I have mine cinched up, but I’m not the greatest swimmer. I have gotten completely used to it.

I an intrigued by the type you wear in a Fanny pack and you pull out when in the water. It would be an awesome backup on a boat.

I would have to say no to the fanny pack. I admit, I've not seen one inflated, but I just don't see how that thing would hold your head above water. The auto inflate have a rip cord if it doesn't go automatically. I'm not 100% sure on this but I think some even come with a tube to inflate by mouth as a third method.

no..you mis-understand. its purely a backup. its in a fanny pack, but you pull it out and it auto inflates into a real PFD that you have to don in the water. it offers a lot of floatation. 26lbs, (vs my PFD 16lbs). seems like a good "plan B"

Right. Never saw one of those before. Nice. The obvious drawback to that is will you have the ability to put it on in an emergency. But it's pretty cool.

Bought one of the prop nut eliminators. Supposed to keep it cooler, quieter and run more efficient. I just wanted to see if it’ll quiet it down and now scare some fish which I’ve heard can happen. Super easy install and glad I did it because I had a surprise between the prop.

Wow, that big and still has colors. And he's got the fish holding technique to make it look bigger, down pat. My wife caught a monster lake trout that was almost thirty inches, and was about 19 pounds. On a fly rod.

I landed one a little later, but not as big. I shoulda used the photo technique of holding it out in front of me.
