Noise/Vibration under driver's floor board

Hello everyone! Hope you are all healthy and staying safe.

    2007 DCSB 4wd auto, 138,000 miles.

As the title says, I have a noise/vibration under the driver side floor board. It's not very loud but can definitely be felt by my feet on the floor and through the pedals. Seems to be most noticeable above 30 mph.

I had a loud roaring before on this side and replaced the wheel bearing assembly. It quieted that noise. That's been about a month ago.

Brand new Falken Wildpeaks with less than 500 miles on them, so don't think its a tire issue.

I need to replace the pads and rotors, but again, don't think that would cause my symptoms.

The CV axle was replaced two weeks ago after the boot blew and grease went everywhere.

Replaced the sway bar link on this side as well after inspecting it and noticing it was shot.

Yes, I have searched the forums and have been unable to find anything specific to my situation. I have read about checking the torque on LCA bushings but that seems to be more for a sporadic clunk than what I am describing.

I have read about the carrier bearing but am not sure exactly where I would feel that vibration or exactly how to diagnose (ex, what to look for when inspecting the bearing).

I have read about it being potentially the needle bearing. I had a shop replace the CV axle and the needle bearing was never mentioned as being bad. I know, that doesn't mean anything. I also am unfamiliar with replacing a needle bearing, so that might be outside my scope and I hate to take it back to a shop again for them to basically repeat the CV axle process and charge me twice when I should've had it replaced. Dumb move on my part. Also, not sure what symptoms a bad needle bearing causes. I did the 4hi test and still have the same noise.

    Help, please?

My 2005 was making a vibrating noise from under the floorboard and it turned out to be the heat shields for the converter and muffler were rattling.

I will definitely investigate that heat shield. Didn't even know it was there. From reading over that thread, it looks as though it's okay to just leave it off if it is the culprit.

Update: I tried putting it in 4Hi again to see what happens. The vibration is worse and I hear and feel a roar from the driver side when engaged in 4Hi.

Anybody got any advice as to what this is?

When you put it in 4Hi the front driveshaft began to spin so look at the front u-joints.
Assume same in 4Lo?? Then there's the front diff.
Go through the link in #4 above and also several on 4x4 engagements issues/noises so do a search.

Is there a way to tell if the ujoint is the problem without removing the front drive shaft? I have read that the only true way is to remove the driveshaft and inspect.

Unfortunately no. You need to be able to move the u-joints freely.

Would engaging 4Hi cause a wheel-bearing noise to become louder? I know I just replaced the front driver side bearing but am afraid it may be the cause.

be more specific about the vibration,
at what speed shows up ?
at what speed goes away if any ?
my 2009 just turned 280K, had the car since brand new,
I had vibration issues 10000 miles ago,
check the big rubber bushing around the center bearing of the driveshaft if the rubber is worn or just loose it causes the driveshaft to wobble and it shakes the car, my issue was at 15 MPH it appeared, and then at around 40 it went away. good luck buddy

Is there an issue with removing the driveshaft ? Its only bolts ?
All you need is two 14 mill wrenches . Once the driveshaft is dropped , you feel for tight spots in the universal joints .
This eliminates a lot of vibration issues . After the universal joints have been eliminated , we can move on to the next step .

Reread your original post and this is going down the Tacoma rabbit hole.
    1. Define when you get the noise in all drive modes or only 4wheel drive 4Hi and/or 4Lo
    2. Do you feel it too and where feet or steering wheel or other
    3. You can search forum for specific causes like driveshaft noise or vibration front and/or rear and narrow down what you have/causes
    4. If you replaced only one sides wheel bearing and CV then could be the other side as if ones going the other is close behind (always do both same time)
    5. Front and rear diffs can be involved as could rear wheel bearings and of course the stock driveshaft Tacoma mess as could rear leaf springs - lots of posts

Most long-term owners have been thru a lot of this themselves and its a pain.
Look at my info on all my fixes and of course Toyota was useless helping as they simply throw parts at it at your cost.
Find a good driveline only shop and they will find and replace at a much reduced cost usually.
    Hang in there.

Check your exhaust hangers first. I had a hanger weld detach from the straight pipe beneath the passenger side seat area, and it started to rattle. I had my buddy hold the brake and put it in reverse last night while i reviewed the exhaust, from the manifold back, putting pressure on the various components as i went. The detached weld was a more horizontal portion of the hanger beneath the straight pipe, and was not so visually apparent. I applied pressure with a tool to that area, (Puh tum, cha!) and could stop the ratting, and then realized the barely visible separation there.
