I just mean I don't want to have to pay $20+ to fix it myself. Would want Toyota to push the plugs in for me for free. That $20 is like a few chick-fil-a sandwiches I could get instead!

Well... you modified the truck–which caused issues–and you expect a free sandwich. Perhaps your dealer really likes you. Dunno. Duck tape is cheap.

Duct tape is even cheaper as its not made from real ducks.

I don't see your point. Regardless if I modified the truck - some SR5's are coming with hole plugs and some are not. It should be consistent and that is Toyota's problem, not mine to deal with.

Well, let us know if the dealer fixes this for free. Perhaps they understand my point.

I have plugs on the passenger side but not the driver. It's not an either or type of situation. Poor Q/C.

I swear the person on the assembly line that is supposed to put those in went home sick the day our trucks were built. We have an SR5 here at the dealership, and my sales manager has a TRD Sport, and both of them have the plugs. I was able to convince our service manager to pay for the plugs for me!

Here's a question -- is anyone getting the whistling/howling sound with the air dam on, that is missing the plugs? If so, then Toyota should definitely pay to put them on if they are missing!

So…has anyone here duct-taped a kid to a wall? I was super tempted but failed to do this when my kids were small.

I taped classmates to walls in high school. It took two rolls and it ruined the wall. Fun times. Fortunately no photos were taken.

Stopped by the dealership this morning to inquire about the fact that as reported here by some, plugs are already installed on some SR5 and Sport trucks and some not. They ran the VIN off my TRD Sport Premium in their system and confirmed it should NOT have the plugs pre-installed. Curiously the Pre-Runner (very basic trim) should have them according to their system. So not getting my money back for buying the plugs. It's ridiculous and impossible to comprehend.

You need to buy the plastic plugs to stop the wind noise. Go back in the thread to find the information.

That's strange. My Sport does have the plugs. Wonder what the reasoning is for some to have and some to not.

This morning I finally got around to re-removing the cowcatcher, installing the plugs, and taking the LRT (Luxury Race Truck) out for a spin. And I am here to report that The Howling has been defeated and the good guys have won! So, consider this another data point supporting the theory that, if you have The Howling after taking off the air dam, and your truck does not have the plugs, then you need to plug all your holes.

They go in the empty holes? or are the 4 plugged holes where they go? do you need 8 to put 4 on each side??

Yeah, refuse to give Toyota money for such a cheap part.

Took some measurements and gonna run this through the printer. Think it can just be made with ABS but I also have some 72D TPU I can try as well.

If this is successful I'll upload and you guys are free to use/print it.
