Hello everyone. Has anyone removed the air dam from their 2024 Tacoma? I removed mine and now I have a low whistle type sound when I go from about 30 to 45 mph. Almost sounds like a tire noise but I think it is because I took off air dam and it’s the air passing under the truck that’s making that noise. Gunna put it back on to see if noise goes away.

The 3rd gen had holes in the lower control arm that were missing plugs that tended to whistle. Plugs or tape fixed it.

I removed mine last week and haven’t noticed anything. I’ll drive around tomorrow with music off and pay closer attention and let you know.

Not sure -- I had the tech take it off while he was doing the PDI -- so I've never driven mine with the damn dam on -- as far as I know, all the noises I hear are factory/stock :)

Thanks for the input. Maybe it’s because I have the limited with quite street tires, but man this truck has a quite ride lol. I think tomorrow I will put the wind dam back on to make sure that is what the problem is .

    I have a 2wd sr5, quiet tires....
I didnt hear anything abnormal after removing the snow-plow.....
Did you reinstall the fasteners into their locations?
I think they retain additional panels secure if I remember correctly.
I think 2 fasteners are different than the others...

Had the same issue. Reinstalled the ugly chin spoiler and the noise is gone. Hopefully some aftermarket solutions will come around soon so I can take that awful eyesore off without the howling noise!

Is the skid plate on the Sport different from the Off-road?

Yes. The OEM off-road skid plate:
    • More of a lightweight plastic vs the felt on the Sport
    • Shaped differently in the front. The Sport has two large dips that the off-road does not which may be acting like wind tunnels and inducing the additional wind noise.
    • Off-road has an additional skid plate right behind the front one offering more coverage underneath.
I do believe Btcomcast's modification to the air dam is a good solution. (see post below)

    Far to much money spent.
Cutting and trimming the factory chin spoiler to cover the slots above the sports skid plate eliminates the Nosie you are hearing.processed-39225A86-C7F9-4CE9-B755-8809474C7FDC.jpg

cut the ugly chin down and reinstall it modified where the holes are filled and it should stop cutting the wind like that.

Chin spoiler would have hooked on that tiny little curb when I parked. I bought a truck, not a Mini Cooper FGS! I'll be trimming that on the weekend and covering the whistling holes until I can find a better and affordable skid plate...
