Anybody experiencing or experienced issues with apple carplay? I use Spotify for music and plug the phone in for CarPlay but there’s no sound.

CarPlay connects bc I see the maps and other apps on the screen but no sound. I tried different cables and even bought a new one, still no sound.

If I use Bluetooth option, there is sound. Anybody know how to fix it or is my best bet going to the dealership?

How about other music apps? Like pandora or youtube music? No sound out of those either?

How about sound for audio calls? Do you get sound while connected to carplay?

Ok, so.. YouTube or other apps used like watching a video on IG or other videos, no sound.

Phone calls I get sound and I hear the sound when I send or receive a text…

Edit: tried Apple Music app and no sound but shows it’s playing.

I have problems with mine. I drive a lot for work and am constantly on the phone. I’ve experienced people not hearing me when my phone is plugged in, music not resuming play after a phone call ends until I go into pandora/Spotify. I’ve had to restart phone to fix the call issue and I have to go on and Pause/unpause on the phone. It’s a pain in the ass. My 2017 would drop calls on Bluetooth constantly and now this. Bluetooth seems to work fine. Edit: 2022 model year

Somewhere in the phone settings there is a function that will/won’t allow your phone to be controlled by another device. I had problems with CarPlay, but stumbled across that and haven’t had any issues since.

You would think, but I think it just the music, and the apps and maps showed. It’s worth a shot though. It would work just fine if the phone was open, but if I plugged it in and it wasn’t open the music wouldn’t come up.

I get that intermittently. Normally it’s just an unplug and replug of the iPhone and I’m good. No idea why….

There was another thread recently about doing an update to the unit by downloading from your computer onto a flash drive and plugging the flash drive into the vehicle USB port. I just wasn't sure if it was for the Car Play or not ?? I really don't use any other feature of the head unit - except the Car Play and wondered if it applied ?? Mine gets a bit finicky sometimes and it is aggravating.

    Found it --

This seems to be a issue with both apple or android! i was talking to a guy the other day with the same truck same problem he was using android, the only fix is unplug and reconnect your phone i had my dealer do a reset and check for updates to which my truck was up to date and the issue came back a few days later i went a got a brand new power cord apple not aftermarket and it still does it. it’s just a minor annoyance!

Is this separate from the occasional updates done via cell data? I occasionally get offered to update that way.

I love my truck but I friggin hate the head unit. It’s so glitchy and annoying.
