I have a 99 sr5 2.4l of witch I had the engine it swapped out recently.... Everything works, but now the ac does not.

    -Replaced the 10a fuse,
-got new ac button (oem from ebay),
-tested ac clutch by running jumper wire directly and it engages,
-light on the ac button comes on when pressed
-unplugged the power wire from ac , then tested for voltage when ac button is pressed.....none
    - Checked if freon level was low, hooked up the bottle and gauge reaf full.

Can't solve the power issue ........I'm stuck..... it's gonna be over 100° all next week too...any help would be beyond appreciated thank you

Was the 10 amp fuse blown? Does the fan work and do you have it turned on?

First off you need service gauges to properly check an A/C system.

There must me a minimum of 30psi of system pressure before the pressure switch will close.

THe A/C Amplifier powers the compressor directly when the correct conditions are met (A/C Switch on, Pressure Switch closed, & Evaporator Temperature in range), there two intermediate connectors you may check (IJ1 & IK2) as well as check the connector on the Dual Pressure Switch.

    - thank you for your response-
The fuse wasn't blown when I got it back from the mechanic who changed the engine. He also said that he just took the compressor off the orig. engine and then mounted back on the new engine. I was thinking he had to empty the lines or something, but I guess he didn't.

-fan works and is on when I press the ac button but no power to compressor

FWIW I had broken the high pressure line on my wife's 97 4runner break and not realized it for an undetermined amount of time, but it was long enough that all of the refrigerant leaked out by the time she let me know about it. The light on the AC switch in the cab would still turn on when pressed, but I'm pretty sure power wasn't going to the compressor otherwise it would have probably burned itself up by the time I got around to fixing the line.

That said, 99's may have a different circuit.

    ****UPDATE ****

    SOLVED. @Dm93

-Bought a service gauge for the ac lines and sure enough it was 20 psi!!!! Thank you guys for your help, guides and recommendations!!! Invaluable!!! Much appreciated!!!!

    - now just going to wait it out to see if it's solved, if there's a leak or when they changed the engine out they discharged the lines or what....either way I'm glad I have this forum for help!!
