just had a call with my Toyota sales....

due to the chip shortage of the blind spot sensors, Toyota Canada stop to sell any model with the package of that feature.

it's like if the basic model already comes with that feature, that's still fine.
but if it's not full line of that model equipped with it, the trims with blind spot sensors can't be ordered now. (i really don't know the logic here....)

So my current option is either to place an order for TRD offroad now, or wait till TRD Pro comes out again, probably 2023.

Are there any specific reasons you want the Pro or pretty much just for the cosmetics?

It's not like the blind spot sensor is something critical. I didn't care much about that at all. TRD pro is also overrated. I personally wouldn't buy pro in a million years. Trd OR all the way.

Overrated is an interesting word for a truck that is similar to yours in many ways. Are the fox shocks overrated? The extra clearance? The wider stance? The driver's skill is key in most off-roading situations, but all things being equal (especially if OP doesn't want to modify anything), the PRO is better equipped for off roading than any other OEM trim. That is indisputable. What is disputable is what something is worth to two different people. OP, you're probably wise enough to discern confirmation bias and cognitive dissonance when you see it. I'm only preaching because TW is full of absolute statements that are heavily based on opinion - wish we could tone that down and be a bit more helpful.

Blind spot monitoring is part of the premium package on the off road and sport models..I wonder what's going to happen with the sport premium I have on the way. The dealer says it is in production..whatever that means.

Again, yes, for the price, it's overrated. It's a truck with a fancy skirt. That's all.

Uh huh. Whether or not that's the truth, I'm glad you're happy with it.

Anyway, OP, I hope you find what you're looking for.

Isn’t that EVERY single vehicle above a bare-bones base model? Just a bunch of gimmicks and nonsense and name cache (TRD, GR, AMG, ///M, Nismo, Weissach, etc…)? Nobody *needs* more than a base model. Nobody.

The guy wants a Pro, and has stated his reasoning. Why are you coming into his thread shooting down another persons choices?

There probably is a parts shortage, but there probably wasn't enough Pro orders to justify sending any more trucks that are not already sold. Could be true for any trim of Tacoma, or any Toyota vehicle.

Isn't BSM a base Pro feature? Pro has like no packages for it....I feel like they're telling you the opposite, because isn't BSM in a package you have to add to the base off-road?

NVM, I get what they're saying now...BSM has to be base across the whole line not just base in trims

    Check build thread!
This doesn't sound too correct to me... I work at a dealer in Ontario and have heard no such thing. That would mean they stop selling all Corrolas (excluding the L rental car model), all highlanders, 90% of rav4s, 99% of camry's, the list goes on. Would basically mean they shut down.

Not sure about that. I was at the dealer 1.5 weeks ago and Toyota just allocated about 6 Pro’s in Canada. It just so happens the dealer I was at was given a 6MT. I left a deposit on it. It wasn’t even in their pipeline yet. I just happened to be there when the Toyota Rep was there and told them they were getting it in their next allocation. Good timing for me. The other 5 were sold.

Lol, whatever floats the other person's boat I guess. I wouldn't call it overrated either, seeing that there are actual physical hardware upgrades that do improve performance. PROs are overpriced? Maybe, but I wouldn't call it overrated.

Honestly I think any Tacoma is over priced. But that being said for me I think a sport premium 6MT is the best value.
