Please provide all pertinent info(lift, tires size, % highway, all city, etc?

I'm still on my first tank since 285/75/17s, with @3" lift. Indicated 11.9mpg. Maybe 13mpg if corrected for 34's. I do strictly all city miles. 3 miles to work with about 7 red lights. Once i took a longer 15min trip with less red lights, it displayed 15mpg.

    Cooper XLT E rated 58lbs.

No bs. Summer gas, 90 % highway/ 10% in town, average 16.7 for the tank, without manual calcs. (should be around 19mpg)

I have steel everything except for a rear bumper, and 315s 75 16s, but I am geared at 5.29s.

Sounds like you need OVTune and a speedo recalibration lol

not a “big tire” but my previous 3rd gen (auto) got about 16-17mpg combined when it was BONE STOCK

Then 18-19mpg combined AFTER lifting it
2.5” / 1” with 265/75r16 SL rated tires ***with OVTune***.

    50/50 city & highway

(I did everything at the same time, but I’m assuming I’d get 14-15 mpg with that setup on the stock tune)

15.5 MPG with 265/75/16 on a -12 offset wheel with 1.5 inches of suspension lift. I rarely do highway driving since most of my driving is to and from work or school which isn’t very far from my location.

my 265/75 isn’t really a big tire but it is bigger than stock and sticks out past the fender flares

Guy got 22mpg(indicated) on 33s on an 8 mile trip. He only got 2-3 lights though.

    https://youtu.be/TamyeDHbj78

My tank avg is sub 12mpg. Most of my trips are 3 miles with many stops. My life of the truck avg is down to 14.3mpg. 2100 miles and 200 miles on the big tires.

Not to jack a thread but what is everyone using to recalibrate the speedo? And is it worth it?

Depends on what size tire you’re running. I think the only solution is still the hypertech recalibration tool, it’s like $230 on Amazon.

Just added toolbox and roof-rack to haul my fishing boat 100's of miles into the backwoods every week. Goodrich K02s, Bilstein 5100 front and back, no lift.
Good thing to check, but the numbers on the mpg display are useless.

Fill your tank. Write down your taco current mileage.

Run the tank empty, fill it up. Write down how many miles you drove since the last fillup.

Divide the miles you drove by the # of gallons it took to refill the tank. Theres your real mpg. Everything else is just a guess.

My mpg indicator on my 2016 taco is usually off the real number by 2 - 4 mpg. I am not lifted, I get avg 21mpg city, goes down to about 15mpg when I am offroad. Those trips are usually 100 or more offroad miles, and truck loaded with about 700 pounds of gear.

Would like to use my trip meter for this, but its useless too. Resets itself almost daily, has since I bought the truck used. I drive far offroad about 30 trips each summer, so I keep a notepad and pen and jot down mileage along the way, at each turnoff too when exploring. Otherwise when driving in the bush up in the mountains, easy to get mixed up and take the wrong turn. Here is one wrong turn I took last summer. Ended up sleeping here for the night, large moose gave me quite the scare when I got out for a piss at 4 in the morning. Came crashing up the ridge behind me, almost turned my piss into crap:)

I get around 19 mpg. No lift, stock tires (265/65-17), mixed driving.

    Comment:
3 miles to drive to work. Walking is an option, probably only need 30-40 minutes for the commute. MPG = unlimited.
3 mile drive will not get the truck to operating temperature for best efficiency.
The stoplights are killing your fuel efficiency. You are likely spending more time idling waiting in traffic then actually rolling.

    Question:
How much time for your typical commute to work? 20-25 minutes? Longer?

    Suggestion:
    Begin walking to work.

    BS:
I walk my dog 3-4X each day. Typically, we cover 2-3 miles each walk. The time varies depending on the number of sniff stops we make, but generally a walk is 30-40 minutes.

This is TW, you will get BS despite your request.

I just drove from Santa Fe to Salida, a four hour trek at about 70 mph, I have an air pushing rack, 5160/6112 lift, a set of plywood drawers and some beefy e load 285 coopers and got 16 mph.
sad but true... just ordered two 5 gallon Wavian jerry cans lol, I won't be bolting these to the rack like some poseur, they ride down low where anybody with half a brain would put them.
btw, the coooper tires have these things called whisper grooves and they literally are barely audible, the wind is a lot noisier, so blissfully quiet, hats off to the engineers at Cooper, amazing.

2" in front, 1.5" in the back, 265/70/17 tires. Filled up twice since I got my lift.

    1st Tank = 17.72 mpg
    2nd Tank = 17.80 mpg

Seems to match up with my pre-lift mpg. So I haven't seen any drop in mpg after lifting. I was expecting in the 15-16 mpg range...I guess I'll just need to get bigger tires now!
