I just recently purchased a 2019 Tacoma TRD Pro. I’m wanting to change out the stock tires and replace them with an all terrain or a hybrid. I’ve been leaning towards the toyo rt or the nitto ridge grapplers. Im wanting to do a 265/75/r16. I’m not wanting to do a leveling kit or lift at the moment. I also don’t want any rubbing or the too stuffed look. Any advice or recommendations would be appreciated.

    Welcome to TW!

Judging by the looks of them I would tend to think maybe the Ridge Grapplers would clear water out and handle snow better than the Toyos, but at the same time if it hardly rains or snows where you're at, the R/Ts probably grip dry road slightly better. I don't know for sure, just going off the looks of the tread pattern. I think if I was getting them I'd go with the Ridge Grappler.

As for the rubbing issue, as long as you're staying with a 265/75R16 and the stock wheels you won't have any rubbing. Good luck!

I live in south Louisiana so no worries about snow, but the rain is a different story. I also have a 40 minute commute one way to work so I just want to make sure what I get will last and not be too loud once they start wearing.

+1 for ridge grapplers. They've been great in every terrain I've put them through. The only place I haven't gone into is thick clay-like mud. I try to avoid that whenever possible. Plus, they're a few pounds lighter than the toyos too.

Another +1 for Ridge Grapplers, good road manners and great off road. I looked at Toyo RT but the price was a decent amount more and they don't offer C rated tires in my size.

I can't provide much feedback on wet roads since I'm in SoCal but they're much better than my old Duratracs.

Noise wise, they're a little louder than the stock Goodyear's but not obnoxious like MT tires. I hardly notice them and I drive with the radio at volume 10 with a TRD exhaust.

i think TW should have there forum list on the top of the page, this way people would port topics in the right forum,, this should be in the wheels and tire forum,, just saying.. all forum topics are on the bottom of the page..

I just ordered 5 in 265/75/16 116T for my stock TRDOR. Scheduled for install 7/1.

Glad I waited a few months for these to be available in that size/weight... much heavier than stock tires, but I think they will be great.

Goodyear Kevlar Wranglers are at 35K right now and are very near the tread wear indicators (1 is already there). We typically don't get great tread wear because our driveway is super rocky and 3/4 mile long.

Time for some burnouts on the old donuts! :burnrubber:

+1 for the Ridge Grapplers, I just got mine installed a couple of weeks ago and love them so far. Had to get the shop to re-balance after a week since I felt some wobble, but after that, it's been great. I can't speak for the toyo as I never had a set of them.

Here's some dirty Grappler tire pRon to help you in your decision-making:

Tires look great. They feel much heavier than the old worn-out stock Goodyears. Very bouncy with 40psi, so I dropped it to 34psi.

I think they are a bit heavy for the stock shocks to handle, but I plan to get upgraded UCAs, shocks and springs soon.

They are very quiet on the highway, quieter than the Goodyears, which were at their wear limit indicators.

Traction in loose clay powder and rock (what you see in the pics) is great. That will all be mud by this weekend, so I'll see how they work in slippery red clay.

265/75R16 on stock wheels and suspension... no rubbing so far, but I haven't done an off-camber, full-lock, reverse test, other than that gravel pile flex above... but no rubbing when backing out from that flex with the wheels about halfway turned.

Ridge Grapplers hands down. I got a lot of tread life out of mine in my Jeep and their performance were really good, great on pavement and performance off road was good, better than most all terrains especially in more mud, but none of the side effects of running a true mud terrains tire. Great hybrid tire.

Follow up: could not get the 265/75R16’s to rub on off-camber reverse to either side, so I will say they don’t rub on stock suspension.

Another for some Ridge Grapplers. Great in dry, wet, and snow. They’ve amazed me through some trails and getting through climbs in 2wd. Upping the size with some new wheels. 285/75/17 from 265/75/16. I’ve got 12k miles on mine and wearing quite evenly. No rub with stock wheels at stock height.
