Thinking about replacing my all season tires with the NITTO RIDGE GRAPPLER 265 65 17 but I don’t want a tire that has the usual road noise associated with all terrain tires.

They're very quiet tires, but my only comparison is other all terrain tires. My buddy has them in 295/75R16 on his GMT800 and you get barely any road noise for how aggressive they are. Plenty of threads on TW talking about them being surprisingly quiet too.

I almost couldn't tell the difference when going from stock to the grapplers.

Yup. Fantastic tire with a great tread and sidewall design, only reason why I'm not considering them is how heavy they are in E load.

They're pretty quiet and decent on and off the road. BUT if there is any standing water on the road these get super slippery. Not a big deal in Phoenix but if you live where it rains a lot, I wouldn't recommend.

When I was researching these a bunch of reviews said they were great in the rain.. but I can't imagine what these people were on when they wrote those reviews. Have since seen a bunch describing the same behavior I experience, which is rain drifto with extremely minimal throttle input.

Additionally, the 265/65R17's don't weigh much more than the stockers you're replacing, so that's nice, too.

Louder than the stock tires and the falken wildpeaks AT3 they replaced.

They got much nosier after 10k miles.

Great tire but they are sketchy in the rain.

That’s one of my concerns all terrain tires tend to get noisy after 20K miles or even less. The ones I have on my gen1 I rotate every 5k and that helps keep the noise down.

I didn't realize how noisy they were until I have a TRD sport as a loaner while my 23 was in for a recall.

I also rotate my tires every oil change, which is like every 6-7k miles.

If you really want something on the quiet side, I would avoid these. They are mix between an All terrain and mud terrian so I can't fault them for being on the louder side.

I was concerned about this I have had all terrain tires for the past ten years on my gen1 and I’m really tired of the noise. I drive a lot of highway miles and that’s why I went with the all season on my 23 TRD Sport.

I really like the look of the Nitto so who knows I might just get them and deal with a little road noise.

    That's all it is.
It's a lot like @fourfourone has mentioned. You really don't, at least I really don't notice it until you get into a quieter vehicle.
For me, that's my wife's 4Runner with Michelin Defenders. That's the only time it ever consciously enters my mind.

yes, first season was fantastically quiet, i did about 12k on them, this season its not as quiet but it depends on the type of the road surface too. I dont know how it's gonna be next season but for now Im ok with it

I just got new tires - 265/70-17. I switched from P metric Terra Grappler G2s to P Ridge Grapplers. The G2s were down to 5-6/32 and had become noticeably louder since new. I think the new Ridge Grapplers are just a loud as the worn G2s. Time will tell.

The best tires I have run on the Tacoma were Michelins same size. I got 72k out of them but they looked like a family car tire.
