If this was already posted or discussed elsewhere, I apologize and the moderators can feel free to move or delete it.

I am a fan of Nitto's tires. I had a set on my 2005 and immediately put another set on my then new 2020 TRD OR. Of course, I can't say they are the best tires -- I have no idea since I have not really run that many sets of tires. That said, I think it is fair to say that Nitto makes a pretty popular choice in tires and tends to end up on a lot of short lists when folks here are tire shopping.

I found this announcement interesting for their new Recon Grappler A/T. Not snow rated, so I probably would pass, this is a pretty interesting tire. Need to assess more how it fits into their overall product line but certainly worth knowing about:

"With its tall, prominent sidewall lugs and aggressive tread design proving capable off-road performance and a comfortable highway ride,"

Looks like it would slot in between the ridge grappler and Terra grappler to me. A medium aggressive "all terrain".

20+ wheel diameter only.... what a shame.

It does say additional size coming soon, so lets hope 16" and 17" sizes available.

Yes ... but that tends to be the Nitto way. They come out in limited sizes and then add more sizes as they fill out their product line. I sent an email to them asking about if and when other sizes will be available. If they respond, I will post here.

E and F load. What a terrible choice of tire for a light pickup

I think they are starting to have a lot of AT/MT hybrid choices. Probably too many for the average truck/suv owner.

Darn! Thats what I love about my Duratracs. Can't find an aggressive C load A/T tire that comes with the 3 peak snow designation, in a 255/85/16 or 255/80/17 size. Duratracs only comes as close as a 265/75/16 tire. Bets rain rating and best rim protection. No brainer.

Edit: Txs for making me do a search @Averagejp. I discover I can now get 255/75/17 Duratracs for my Taco. This will be my next tire purchase.

Totally agree. Look at their entire product range. I really wonder what data they are looking at and where they see the market. Does appear the Recon is designed for those that like a certain look. I also find the "highway terrain" for the Dura Grappler to be kind of funny. Still, they must have some kind of market research driving these decisions. Unless they are creating separate lines of tires for custom / smaller shops and then different brands for the larger big box stores. Still, interesting nonetheless. And, they do make a good tire.
