Got the new 35/11.5R17 E load Nitto Ridge Ridge Grapplers installed yesterday, they replaced my 285/75R17 E load Hankook XT’s. I wanted something a little taller in the 11.5 wide selection.

After going back and forth with DT on tire availability, I settled on the Ridge Grapplers, I’ve own two other sets of them and both were great.

Had them installed and drove about 75 miles, steering wheel shakes fairly well at 40-60. Drove back to DT and explained the problem, had them road force balanced.

Drove another 30 miles, then played with the tire pressure, steering wheel is still shaking between 40-60. Talking to them now about options, really wanted the 35/11.5/17, but might end up with 35/12.5/17’ s

So the moral of this story, they look fantastic, but ride like crap between 40-60.

I have Toyo AT3 35x11.5r17 load C on my tacoma. Love them so far. Very light weight for a 35.

That’s the exact tire I tried to get, DT says the Toyo 35/11.5/17 is on back order, that’s how I ended up with the Nitto’s.

I can get the Toyo at3 in 35/12.5/17 by Wednesday, it’s 59lbs. Waiting on a call back now.

Try a different tire shop. I got mine like 3 weeks ago from a local mom and pop shop. No issues getting 5 of them the next day from their distributor.

I just got the toyo 35/12.5/17 mounted last Friday at DT. Rubs a little on reverse at fulllock. I do have CMC abd now considering CMR. However i am on .75" wheel spacers on 4.75" bs wheels

I’m at Discount Tire right now (again, 3rd time) they want pull everything off one more time, inspect & rebalance. My new wheels are also scratched because of this place and we are about to do it some more…

I’ve been very polite and am hoping for a quick resolution.

Cut & broke off stuff. Prolific ziptie and tape usage.
40-60 mph steering shake is very likely balance.
Keep pressing them to get it right.
Chased similar issue on my 4Runner. Was horrible right at 60. If there are other DT locations near you, might try that. Could be the people, the machine, the tires, or combo causing it.
Alignment can contribute but balance is main culprit.

I’m running .75” wheels spacers on the front, otherwise I’ll rub the tie rod.
    6” BDS lift with fox.

Ok, was told by asst mgr, two of the wheel’s measured out to 40+ lbs on the Hunter machine. He was able to get them in the high teens and low 20’s by breaking the tire free and spinning them.

Traffic is crazy right now in H-town, I’ll hit the freeway perhaps this evening or tomorrow and report back.

    I am hopeful !

Sorry for going off topic, but how tall are you from ground to fender.

Measurements to underside edge, pressure 32psi at, I’m not on flat ground.

As a side not, the ride is much improved, ran it about 75 miles yesterday. Thanks to the Asst Mgr at DT in Pearland Tx.

Well…back to DT, the Nitto’s are still vibrating, not nearly like before, but enough between 45-65 that it had to be addressed.

They were able to get the 35/11.5/17’s Toyo AT3 in C load, not sure why they couldn’t before. DT has been professional and nice throughout this entire process, my favorite place to get tires.

Don’t know what to say about the Nitto’s, my last two sets were perfect, this third set caused me four separate visits to DT and finally replacement.

    Still riding good?

    Did you get an alignment?

I'm drifting right a little. didn't prior on my cooper 34s. Will probably get an alignment soon.

What methods did your DT dealer use to balance each attempt?

Riding much better now with the Toyo’s, steering wheel and vehicle no longer vibrates. After the last road force balance they were much better, but I could feel the entire truck rumbling, like riding on mud tires after 45 mph.

Alignment was completed about 800 miles ago with the new lift, wheels & tires. The 34” Hankook’s drove straight and perfect, just wanted 35’s.

I’ve ran three different set’s of 34’s over the years and never had issues, this is my first venture into 35’s.

The lugs on the Nitto’s looked taller in some areas.

Not sure on the first install, but the last two attempts were road force, the new Toyo’s were also road force balanced.

I have been told that the best results come from using what is referred to as finger plates. However I don't think my KO2's were done that way and they have been great with 2 of the 5 needing no weight and the heaviest only needing half an ounce. And they are 285/75/17's "E" load on Method 701's
