    Hey all,

I need to get a drop step for my wife to help her get in and out of the truck. I was pretty convinced that I liked the OEM Predator step until I came across the Nfab Podium while reviewing the 265/75/16 tire thread. My truck is a Celestial Silver SR5 DCSB and I was thinking about them in the textured matte black. I like the stainless too... but not sure about a polished step bar.

For those of you running Podiums, what do you think of them. Is the step functional for getting in and out?

Probably going to end up with a 2/1 leveling kit and some new tires in the not too distant future.

    Look forward to comments.

I have Havoc HS2 steps which are basically the same steps. I have the TRD lift and they have been perfect for my 6 year old it crawl in and out. I like that the step is closed unlike the predator steps, so no chance of a foot slipping and getting caught in it.

This is basically the look I am after. Love the bronze wheels. Did you do the lift install yourself? What size tires are you running?

My kid is grown, but my wife had suffered a stroke and just needs a little help getting in and out.

Nice looking truck. Thanks for sharing.

EDIT: I just went on to N-fabs website and they don't have the Havocs on there. I see them on RealTruck though. Was just trying to compare the two for differences.

I just got my truck yesterday and I have the NFab Podiums ready to install. I can let you know soon but I looked at quite a few and these looked like an excellent choice!

Check out Havok offroad website. I had the dealer install the lift. Running 265/75r17 tires

I will check it out. What did the dealer charge to install?
I see now I was confused, I thought Havoc was a model of an N-fab product. explains why it wasnt on their site.

I love my Predators. They were a condition of purchase. The Nfab Podiums are also very nice. Since I live up north in the salt belt, aluminum or stainless are mandatory-no steel. The Nfab pro's look to be aluminum, but I got the Predators for free.

I'm wondering if I could pull off the stainless version...
The Predators are sharp looking steps and free is an excellent price. The n-fabs are either high polished stainless steel or powder coated stainless... not sure if I could pull off the high polish. They do look nice

If you're in a salt area I would only do the polished stainless podium version. I had the black powder coated stainless on my last truck and their welds bled rust stains. There was no scaly rust obviously, but they started to look like crap. They warrantied them and shipped me polished stainless (which I later sold to a friend and they still look like new).
One thing to note about the podium steps is that they stick out further than other steps. I would drag my leg on them getting in and out. Like someone else mentioned, great for kids being a closed step.

Here they are on my old truck:

Got something similar on mine. Like the fact that my foot would never slip through and being a little wide is nice for stepping out of
the cab with a camera in hand to shoot a hawk mid-flight or something. I did that just today very close to where this image was taken.

Don't do nor do I plan on any serious off-roading so no worries about that with me.

    Don't get me started LOL...

Here's some edited images - I love this sh*t more than anything... unfortunately I wasn't 100% ready for these shots this guy popped out
of nowhere so they are B+ images... higher ISO than I wanted and slower shutter speed than I would have liked.

    upload_2022-4-20_19-54-14.jpg

Cruising at slower speed head down waiting to pounce...

It was $2400 for the TRD lift and install

I had these on my '21 Taco Pro. They were great until I discovered the joys of off-roading, then they just got hung up on everything.

When not hitting the trails, they worked great for me and my gf at the time, who was on the shorter side of things, used them extensively when getting in and out of the truck.

Good to know. My primary concern is a functional step for my wife. The truck won't be used for any off-roading short of playing around on the sand or blm/usfs roads. I don't think there is a perfect solution for everything.

How do you like your TruXsport cover? I ordered one yesterday.

I agree there is no one size fits all. If you offroad then something that hangs down is not ideal. However if you need a functional step, then the high and tight nurf bars or sliders are not the best. During my test drive, my vertically challenged wife commented that I needed to get some side steps. We are getting on the tail end of "middle-aged" and do not go offroad so it was an easy decision with the Predators.

As mentioned above even stainless welds can bleed some rust in high salt states. There are some good aftermarket products out there. Good luck with whatever you end up going with. Make sure to post a pic and let us know how they are working out.

I think you’ll be ok with these then.

The TruXsport cover has been great. Very easy to install. Sits on top of the bed.

Small lift, slightly oversized tires, well...
I have N-fab's on my Tacoma. I really like them but their paint sucks, after the first winter I started seeing rust. They will get repainted this summer.

Well I went ahead and pulled the trigger on them. I spoke to a guy at Nfab specifically about the reports of rust and peeling. He acknowledged that they have had some issues and they were working with customers and taking care of it as a warranty issue. I specifically asked that if I had an issue would I be on the hook for return Shipping charges and he said no. I felt he was honest. Additionally he reccomended another vendor that saved me some money.

I liked the design, I think it will work well for my wife.

I have(had) a set of Predators in the garage, but I became concerned about her foot going through the step and injuring herself so I really thought it best to have a closed step. Her recovery (stroke and embolisms)has been a long process and her well being is my only concern at this point.

If they rust or peel, I'll consider myself warned, keep my big boy pants on, and deal with it. I almost went for the polished stainless but that would take the look an entirely different direction.

Since you have them installed. Can you post a picture of the bar near the front wheel well. I'm trying to visualize why they say the OEM mudflaps won't work with them?
